Is Lester Cook still on the tennis team or did he turn pro?

I believe him and Ante are playing tournaments this fall. My understanding is that both will be back with the team for the spring.

Lester wants to go pro but so far he has not done well. He will likely be back in the Spring.

The two fish who lost at #1 and #2 singles last night are very good and will play high in lineup.

Marvin Rolle is in great shape and has improved a lot. However he may wind up as doubles specialist. Brent Joelson has also improved.

This team will be loaded and has a good chance at being National Champs.

On a disappointing note Joelson's sister disappointed the Ags Women's Team by choosing UCLA over A&M. In addition to her brother, her father and mother played tennis at A&M. This was a big blow.

The mens team had a productive week-end. While I am sure that all of the teams were at less than full strength, there was some very good tennis played and our younger players got in some good matches. Marvin and Brett looked like they had the makings of a good doubles team. Jerry got in a lot of work at number one and won a very good match this afternoon against a good LSU player. Assuming Lester returns in the spring, we should be a very well balanced team, combining both experience in Lester, Ante, Simo, etc. and young guys such as Jerry, Yev, Matt, Bret, Marvin and Bryan. Throw in Zach who is playing very well, Dash and John and you have a good, deep squad.

Anyone want to take a guess on our lineup for this year? I haven't seen Jerry or Supeko play, but they both seem to be players.

Also, anyone know why Wooten didn't play at all this weekend?

If I had to guess, it seems like the lineup might shake out like this:

Singles: Lester, Ante, Jerry, Dakki, Joelson, and Wooten or Supeko. We've got great depth here.

Doubles: Lester/Ante, Brett/Marvin, Jerry/Zach?

There will be a lot of compitition for playing time especially in the bottom part of the order. I think Yev is going to get a lot of playing time. He is very accomplished and if he stays healthy could really help this team. Bryan is fine and will be ready to go in January. Hopefully we will solidify the doubles line up and turn that into a positive instead of the adventure in never-never-land that we had last season. This shapes up as a very exciting year, with some of the best teams in the country making their way to Aggieland prior to the NCAA's in May.
