Does anyone know when A&M will announce their next Signing Class for Women's Soccer? Isn't it in February around the same as the Football signing class? Think Coach G. can sign another Top 5 class again?

I'm not sure the date, but I think Coach G can sign the #1 class again. We're #1 in attendance, wonderful facilities, a top10 team every year... We have every reason in the world to sign the best class in the nation.

Everything I have heard says that this class will be as equal if not better than the one we hauled last year. Maybe not the numbers but definitely in quality.

I've heard the same thing as gibby. There are two twins that are supposed to be outstanding and a girl from across the pond, but I don't know too many details except that we won't be disappointed.

here you go with what knowledge i have...

we already have verbal comittments from cydne and natalie curry. forward and midfielder, respectively. cydne curry is the big recruit here, as she was heavily recruited by UNC. i dont think they were very interested in natalie. well we offered them both scholarships, so now they are verbally comitted to us. they said they wanted to play together, so we got em. their dad is a t-sip but he said he couldnt be happier they were going to play for our program.

we also have another comittment from a girl named laura grace robinson?? i think her name is. i know absolutely nothing about her though.

what it all comes down to is that cydne curry is the real deal. she was a first team soccer buzz all american as a junior i believe.

Thanks everyone. I did a little more digging on the A&M site and found out that the National Signing date is in Feb. 2005. Also, I saw that Laura Grace (from Memorial in Houston Spring Branch?) did verbal to A&M and she was listed on at least one All-America list for last year I believe. Keep it going Coach G. I think everyone better get ready for another outstanding signing class as well as a run at the National Title next season.

I think it's great that A&M has highly-rated signing classes most every year, but I think more time should be devoted to developing the upperclassmen, meaning juniors and seniors. Sure, most of the incoming freshmen are skilled and have outstanding resumes, but they lack the most important qualification of all -- playing at the college level. It is rare that a freshman can come into college and make an impact right away. Until A&M can consistently put maturity and experience on the field, especially against nationally-ranked teams, I don't think they will make it to the Final Four. So, keep on signing em, but don't write off the upperclassmen.

I'm assuming the 06 in your name is your class year. If not then I apologize but if you've only seen the last two years then yes you have seen lots of underclassmen. There's been a shift in women's soccer away from the manhandling players to skill and we're a little behind that curve right now. These underclassmen represent the need to play a new style of soccer. The same thing happens in football as there have been a lot of upperclassmen that get left behind because the game changes (ie. DE's that weigh 280). Hopefully this is what's happening here cause at some point we'll have the talent, I just hope the coaching matches the strides the players will make.

Five recruits have v committed to A&M soccer for the class of '05. see Soccer Buz, Top Drawer Soccer and StudentSportsSoccer.com for recruiting classes, news, etc. No single site lists all five together. 2 twins from Dallas Inter, Natalie Currie – a MF and Cydne - F. 1 from the Dallas Sting - Micah Stephens - a MF/D. one from Tulsa Soccer Club - Emily Peterson - a D, and Laura Grace Robinson from Houston Challenge - a MF. a web search produces links to info on these players – and club sites have some profiles and/or news – see Tulsa Soccer Club, Inter, Challenge, Sting.

This is a little off topic, but still on girl's soccer. I was riding my bike around Burrough's park in Tomball a few weeks ago and stopped to watch a girl's game being played. The skills these girls were showing was just incredible! I played soccer all of my life and played varsity 4 years in high school...that was quite a few years ago...but I was so shocked by how good these girls were. I asked the lineman what age group and he told me they were 14 year olds. Amazing!!

So, when Riley290 said about going after more skillfull players, I can definately see what you are talking about. I was really impressed with the goalies in the game too. Their technique was so solid.

Man, did Mia Hamm change women's sports or what?
