For those lacrosse fans out there, the Aggie Mens Lacrosse team will be starting its spring schedule in a few weeks with the home opener the weekend of Jan 29 and 30 against Tulane and Texas State. This year has an exciting home schedule with visiting teams UC San Diego and perrenial power University of Michigan. In division play, the Aggies will face former SWC rivals Houston and Rice and finnish off the regular season with t.u. at home.
For those unfamiliar with the program, Texas A&M, like almost every big name school fields a club rather than varsity team. Since only a handful of schools (about 50) field Division I NCAA varsity lacrosse, Texas A&M is a member of the United States Lacrosse Intercollegiate Association, a group of approximatley 187 schools (including almost every big name collegiate sports school out there) coast to coast in 9 conferences, who agree to play by all NCAA division I rules, giving both the players and fans a full varsity level experience. Texas A&M is one of the best non varsity collegiate teams in the country and a dominant power in the Lone Star Alliance Conference,a conference of 11 teams from Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma including such rival schools as tu, Tech, Baylor, LSU and OK State. A&M boasts four LSA conference titles and has had several apperances in post season play at the National Championship Tournament in St. Louis.
