This has to be the worst start in a long time. Granted, they've had a tough schedule and lost 2 of their top 3 players, but this is going to be a LONG season.

Aggie women tennis will never be top notch till old man Klienecke is given the axe. Unitl then expect more of the same.

Anybody know why Nicki Mechem hasn't been playing?

By the way, we have won some form of a Big 12 title each of the past two years and A&M made the sweet 16 last year.

Consistency in the key. Of course, being consistently wrong doesn't seem to bother him.

we are losing because we don't have 2 of our top 3 players. take away anyone's 2 and 3 and they will start losing.

lauren is out 4-6 weeks i believe, following knee surgery. i heard nicki is sick and that it is pretty serious, serious enough to warrant a redshirt. my guess is mono (heard someone else speculating this as well at the match the other day) or some sort of virus that just makes you really weak and tired, and i hope it is nothing more serious than that (although not to downplay the seriousness of mono...it's horrible stuff). either way, i hope she can either get well really soon, or get the redshirt, so as not to waste any eligibility. she is an extremely important part of the team, both on the court and off.

Nicki is hot! Hope she gets better.

Didn't know about all the injuries. That really hurts, especially after losing two players from last year's team too. Hopefully they recover soon and can play for us.

Mechem is beautiful. She's also about the nicest person you'll ever meet in your life.

Staff removed my post, just cause I don't think a girl is hot pretty weak.

Took my 9th grade basketball physical, I was 5'10" and weighed 150 pounds. Got mono and reported back two months later at 5'10" 114 pounds. I never was able to get the weight back during High School. Graduated at 5'11" and 152. Mono can be a tough sickness.

A loss to TCU,nice.

Looks like it's going to be a rough season... graduating our #1 & 3 from last year, and losing our # 5 & 6 (I think) to injury. Tough to recover from that.

to reitterate, we are currently without our #2 and #3, and are playing with 3 true freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior who hasn't seen a lot of playing time lately.

This is really not Kleinecke's fault -- it would be hard for any team to win without 2 of their best 3 players. This hurts even more because there are only 8 scholarships so there is usually not much depth. Iwinski is a scholarship player that didn't pan out and she would have never seen significant playing time if not for these injuries. She is a virtually guaranteed loss every time out there against any decent team, so we're basically starting off every match 0-1, not to mention the liability she is playing 3 doubles. With Mechem and Walker our record might be more like 7-2 with a top 15 ranking. We're also one injury away from calling E. Queen Gill down from the stands.

On a positive note, Anna Lubinsky is playing out of her mind and seems like she will be a legitimate #1 for us the next couple of years, which is nice. Blagodarova (sp?) is also looking good and Clifford is a nice little doubles player. If Kleinecke is able to sign at least one solid recruit this year, this team will be more than fine next year.

A loss to TCU is not a bad loss...they are legit...currently ranked #14 and their top 2 singles are both ranked top 25, plus their # 2 dbls lost in the finals of the regionals

That might be correct but aTm should be beating their in-state rivals, especially the one's at TCU's level.

As far as hotties on the team I think Anna Lubinsky is pretty hot better than Mecham.

I know anna from usta, I would run up to her when my sister was playing same tournaments and say gig em aggies.

It really hurt the team's future when they didn't sign Ashley Joelson from Newk's. Her brother, Brett is on the men's team, and I believe her father played for the Ags. Makes you wonder about what the reason she didn't sign here, esp with the success of last yrs. team. She signed with UCLA.

the girls won the doubles point against lsu...AMAZING. having helga play all the way down at 3 dubs helped out a lot. and it looks like lauren walker is already playing again...very quick recovery from her knee surgery.

hopefully getting 3 of these singles matches will be do-able with lauren back in the lineup.
