I saw on Planet Rugby where OU won the 2005 American Eagle Title Big XII Championship, over ISU. All members of the All-Tournament team are from OU, OSU, ISU or Nebraska. The only other team mentioned in the article was Kansas. Did A&M and tu play in the tourney? If not, why not? They are ranked #17 and #11, respectively, per another article.

I was thinking the same thing when I had read about OU's exploits. I wonder if the Texas collegiate teams are still in TRU. Also, the list containing Texas, Texas A&M, SHSU, Rice, and LSU; where was SWT, UD, TCU, Midwestern, SFA, Tech?

I e-mailed the Match Secretaries for both A&M and Texas. The Aggie Match Sec. responded that they had participated in the tournament the past 2 seasons but had to rearrange their schedule at the last minute to accommodate the chance to play Cal, repeat national champions. He thinks Texas had a similar opportunity.

I believe UT played Cal on Monday 2/21 (Cal won 83-5). Not sure how the Aggies fared, but I think they played on that Saturday before. A&M and UT tied at 10 this past weekend.

Those rankings OU, Texas, and Texas A&M have, are they regional rankings? Or are they a national rating? If so, those top handful must be quite a force on the pitch if they dismantle a "teen" team.

That tournament is totally worthless. Shouldnt be called the Big 12 unless all the teams compete. OU has done that many times in years past. Called themselves "Big 12 Champions" after defeating ISU and Kansas and thinking they dominate. Two years ago, we went up there and destroyed the Sooners 80 something to five, and that was after the old drunk guy that was running the scoreboard got tired of getting up out of his chair to put a try on for the Ags.

What was the final against LSU on Saturday? I watched the match, but lost track of the score.
