Sooner or later, I was gonna find a thread that required that I register just so I could respond to it...
Rufus, if I had to guess, I would say that you probably haven't followed the softball team a great deal this year. Because if you had, you would know that our pitching is exceptionally average when Amanda isn't out there. And not just the pitching, with her not in the lineup, we also lost the best hitter on the Big XII. To a lesser extent, the absence of Sharonda McDonald was also big hurt. Her incredible speed puts a lot of pressure on the opposing defense and also probably gets her to that triple they hit in the first in time to catch it. That could've been huge.
We weren't the favorites in this game, which is really ok since we were without our national POY candidate, and this is a team which definitely has its sights set on the other tourney that starts in a week. Hopefully, both girls will be able to play by then, which I betting they will given the nature of their injuries.
My point, I guess is that it would have been an upset if we had won and to get pissy about it is very silly.
