It's almost that glorious month of July, so I guess most of the non-cycling fanatics will start monitoring the progress of Lance...but for those who know a little more about it...discuss....

Can Lance win number seven? Will he?
Is Hincappie going to be able to do for Lance what Landis did last year?
Which American do we rally behind after Lance retires...Leipheimer?...Landis?...Hincappie?...Julich?
Is Ullrich going to be in shape?
Did Basso learn how to time trial?

Yes
Will he?
Sure is going to try.
Is Hincappie going to be able to do for Lance what Landis did last year?
Yes, but not on anythng over a 15% grade.

Julich?

I like Bobby.
He was paid his dues.
Forgone retirement.
Rides a SWEET brand of bike that has this year been winning time trials and races. (Except the Giro-Basso's !@#@# stomach!)

Is Ullrich going to be in shape?
For doing X? Oh...cycling...nope, but his team will do well like last year.

Did Basso learn how to time trial?

Yes. His Giro performances show it. CSC has obviously been working on this.

I think Lance can...and does...win. No way that he bows out on a loss.

Cappie...he doesn't quite have it like Landis, but there is nobody out there that Lance trusts more...Cappie has been there from the beginning...he knows what it takes.

I like Bobby also. But there is something about Leipheimer...don't quite know what it is. But I like him a lot. It has been good to see Bobby winning, though.

Ullrich...my question should have been "Is he their go to guy, or is it Kloden?" Sure, T-Mobile is stacked, but Ullrich just cant seem to quit partying.

I havent followed Basso too much this year...but I guess if Lance cant win, go Ivan. The guy showed guts last year. Nobody stayed with Lance on the hills...except Ivan. If he can run good TTs, he has a chance. CSC is gonna be busting their balls to make it happen as well...

Freakin July cant come quick enough...it's time we start thanking the greater beings for OLN, Phil Liggett, and maybe a little for Bob Roll's lunacy also

I hear you. I just loved last year when local sports nerds came on saying "Today Lance put the hammer down..." And that Huez time trial last year was insano.

Do you like reading Christian Vandevelder's columns on velonews.com?

He is a domestic for Ivan on CSC and writes some pretty classic stuff. During the Giro he wrote about crackheads (Euro paint sniffers) wanding into the peleton, riders hitting police cars with water bottles, and nasty crashes.
