Wow. That's all I can say. I just got home from today's final stage. It was amazing!! I can't even begin to guess how many people there were in attendance at Champs Elysses but it had to be near 500,000.
I got to the race site at 8 am this morning, and did my best to stand my ground until the race rolled in at about 4:30 this afternoon. Once the arrive in Paris they do 8 laps of the Champs-Elysses, so you get to see the riders every 5 minutes or so, once as they pass you heading to the Arc, then again as they head towards the Louvre... The crowd atmosphere is amazing.
Wow. I'll say it again. Wow.
PS: If you ever get the chance to go, go in a group, take food, water, and a small folding stool. You'll thank me for it.
