no live scoring or anything from either the Gopher or Aggie Web Sites. Have to wait until someone calls in or changes a web site.

From Gophers Web site.

MTN: #54 Minnesota Upsets #13 Texas A&M Printable Version
January 27, 2006 - January 27, 2006- The University of Minnesota men’s tennis team put in an amazing effort against #13 Texas A&M in a great match at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, upsetting the Aggies 4-3. The #54 Gophers (1-1) won two out of three in doubles and split the singles matches showing tremendous poise going down the stretch.
The Gophers split the first two doubles matches after Adrien Debreyne and Raoul Schwark defeated Bryan Wooten and John Nallon, the #14 doubles team in the country 8-6. Minnesota clinched the doubles point when Mikey Kantar and Sion Wilkins defeated Jerry Makowski and Matt Bain.

After losing the first two singles matches at No. 5 and 6, the Gophers had decisive wins by Nic Edlefsen and D.J. Geatz in two of the next three matches. Senior Adrien Debreyne played an amazing final match at No. 4 (6-7, 6-1, 6-4) to give the Gophers the split in singles and ultimately the victory against A&M.

The Golden Gophers (1-1) continue their homestand Saturday at 6:30 at Baseline against the #22 Texas Longhorns (0-0).

Our lineup:

Jerry won
Dakki Lost
Wooten Lost
Conner Lost
Nallon Won, was first off
Bain won, second off

Brett and Wooten were split at doubles for some reason, they are ranked, 14 I think.

Dakki playing #2 for us is a very bad sign for the year.

Only positive is prob John Nailon beating Schwark (#71 ITA ranked). Cass has to do some shuffling. I agree about Dakki at #2 as a concern.

It's not as terrible as it can get, but it's certainly not good. The fact of the matter is that we have a really good #1 player and then we have a bunch of bottom of the lineup (4-6)type guys. I don't see anyone that can step up and be a solid #2 guy for us.

The key to this team will be finding a doubles lineup that can compete and win most of the time.

it really hurt losing Ante last year. Ante held down #2 and was solid in doubles ...thats 2 points right there

but its still the beginning of the season. i see us grabbing either #2 or #3 in conference and we have a long way to go yet.its not over until its OVER!

Aggie fans might be interested to know that my Florida Gators just beat Baylor 4-3, ending their 61 match home court winning streak.
