Am I the only one who is uber-excited about our 2006 soccer prospects? Granted, losing some of our seniors will hurt (esp. KJ's attitude, and Probst's corner kicks), but I think we looked damn good in the spring games, especially the game against the U-20 American team.

We really seem to be playing well as a team, and with the intense competition we've seen thus far for the goal keeper position, I think we'll be able to manage the loss of Spisak's skills, though her attitude can never be replaced.

While we're at it- does anyone else think we should retire #6?

Yeah, I agree about Spearnik in the goal (or the new freshman we have coming in). We haven't lost much on our back line- We lost DeWoody, but she didn't play much last year anyway, even if I did prefer her to Pierson. At any rate, with Pierson sweeping and all the other options we'll have for the rest of the back line (uber-reliable sources tell me Annie Burnett will be 100%) not to mention Carmichael, Pfister, and Emily Peterson have all looked very strong in the spring, so yeah, I'm not too worried about it.

One interesting point is how few saves KJ had this last year, which is not because she gave up more goals, but because our opponents had precious few quality shots thanks to our d-line which I believe is only getting stronger.

I only saw one of the spring games - against Florida. I have to say the Ags looked like they were playing with purpose, which is great for the Ags, but not so great for my favorite Big 12 player.

JRDancer,

Thanks...I look at it this way - She can have a great game and the Ags could still win, at least I like to believe that!

I believe that AUA does have the games. If not you can still listen to them on Yahoo for $5 or $10 a month.

If you have any way to get FoxSports southwest, they have started to put some of the games on cable here, though I'm not sure if that was just for tournament play.

If not, just start making your demand for them heard- Does anyone else think they would ever put regular season conference away games on TV? That is the kind of television programming I would schedule my day to make sure I saw it.

AUA had the HOME games.
And that's just why I subscribed.

No Aggie Soccer number has ever been retired.

If #6 should've been retired, it should've been retired after Bryn Blalack (1994-97) finished her career. Let's not forget Nicky Thrasher switched jerseys from #18 to #6 in 1998, also wearing #6 for 4 years. Both were as decorated as Kati Jo.

It's traditional in soccer to reuse the low numbers over and over again. No doubt future Aggies will carry on the tradition of great #6's.
