Rooney got hurt in the game against chelsea, gone for at least 6 weeksk, if he makes it back they say itll probably be the third game, Sven says he will take him if there is even a chance he will play...Thoughts on Englands chances in the world cup now?

well considering one of the games he will miss is against the worldwide superpower that is Trinidad & Tobago, i think they'll make it out of the group stage okay. how they fare after that, however, depends on rooneys form when he comes back.

He broke a similar bone in Euro 2004 and didn't play for 10 weeks. I don't see him having an impact for England and if he doesn't have an impact, they can't win it all.

I imagine crouch will be his replacement...that is a HUGE drop off in talent

And while Owen should be healthy for Germany, how fit is he going to be? Forward situation for England is pretty dire. Not as dire as ours but they went from having two of the best in the world to potentially starting Bambi on ice.

Bad break for England. At least he's young enough to be back in '10, maybe even '14.

England has a major problem. Then Sven-Goran will leave someone useful like a Shawn Wright-Phillips at home.

England-quarterfinalists at best.

SWP should have never agreed to go to chelsea, its hard to get in your national team managers favor when you barely even sniff the field

Hell, the way those people are over there the guy that broke his bone might be dead soon. When Beckham got sent off in 1998 they were all over him in England.

While the English do have their share of hooligans, we're talking about England here, not Colombia.

The English are Subjects of the Crown and do not have guns.

The Columbia incident was due to drug barrons betting $20 million on a strait-up Columbia win over US, not Hooligans. Not a very pleasant memory to be bringing up by the way...

Never said hooligans were behind the Colombia incident. Just that English hooligans aren't likely to kill any players.

Say Robbie Fowler were playing for England this go round (which he is not). ManU fans hate Robbie Fowler. Say Fowler were to scuff a chance in the final game to win glory for England. Would Fowler last very long?

There is an underbelly in England that is frightening.
