Some notes from the first round...

We had 24 bogeys, the average for the 1st round was 26.5 per team

We had 5 birdies, the average for the first round was 8 per team

We did a great job at saving holes by making par on 60 holes and only receiving one double bogey. This might not sound like that big a deal, but looking at the past few tourneys, the doubles have killed us, so to eliminate those hinderences is very key to our success amongst the big teams.

Another note is that we struggled with some of the easier holes on the course. e.g. Hole # 12 has a 17 handicap and we had three bogeys. Hole #3 is a 14 handicap and we were +2.

Back to hole #12. I did a little research and found out that the problem with this hole is a small fairway that if you hit it makes you feel like you can reach the green in two because of the way the wind feels behind your back. The problem is that there is a small creek that runs in front the green about 40 yards. I could be wrong, but I bet we had a couple balls land in this creek. Hopefully we will shoot for birdies and lay up and avoid the bogeys with this hole. Ashley birdied the hole but I wonder if she learned from her previous three teammates bogeying the hole.

First days can always be tough, so hopefully we come out very loose and excited about where we are.

I said it earlier that in the past 2 years we have finished 23 and 22. We are in 13th right now, so this is a huge improvement. We should be evry excited for our girls.

The late starters have begun play. I am going to wait until after the early starters finish before I make another team update.

I am leaving for lunch and will be back at 1:00.

We are in great shape and only need to try and par out. I think we need to be around -4 at the end of 9, which is the back 9, before we head to the more difficult front 9. If we can finish within about 3 or 4 strokes of E, we will have had a really good day!!!

Scores look to be a little lower today based on early starters, but not much.

I think +6 to +8 would be a great goal for today's round. That should put us top 8 or 10. Even par might be a stretch as +3 is the lowest anyone has turned in, but you never know if putters get hot.

Thanks for the updates, but could you shorten to the Top 10 or 15?

+6 on the back 9 today. We played the back in +2 yesterday.

Rally time on the front 9. Teams have really been struggling on the front this afternoon. I'll be glass 1/2 full and say they could really pick up some shots on the field if they play great on the front 9.

We are at +9 right now.

As of now, I am just hoping we can be ahead of +28. This will put us in the late starting group tomorrow.
