The guys will begin play tomorrow!
We will tee off at 1:00. I am not positive but almost certain that this is PT which means they will tee off at 3:00 PM Central Time. This is really not good for me since I can only give updates until 5:00 on Wednesdays. I am sure someone will fill in during the time after 5:00. We will be starting on hole #1.
On Thursday we will tee off at 7:50 AM PT (9:50 AM CT). We will be starting on hole #10.
Weather is always a concern at these northern tournaments and here is what the enxt few days have in store...
Wed. at 9AM it will feel like 58 degrees
at 3PM it will feel like 64 degrees.
It looke like there could be some rain on Wed, Thur, and Fri.
I don't know about you, but these conditions don't look like golfing weather!! I remember OSUAggiemom talking about how the conditions were at the same location last year for the WOmen's Championships. You would think the the NCAA would learn from last year but maybe the people that make these decisions are from the northwest where it rains every day and is so cold the you have to have a built in heater in your putter, and this kind of stuff doesn't bother them. I would think that this could be a huge disadvantage to several of the top teams in the country; Georgia (#1), Ok. State (2), Florida (3), Georgia Tech (4), UCLA (5), Texas A&M (6), Arizona St. (7), ok you get the point!
Anyhow, here's hoping the team packed their mittens and that they come out strong!
Play consists of 4 rounds. There is a cut after the third round to 15 teams. Recent history shows that we did not make the cut last year and the year before we finished 14th. These are the only two appearances in the Finals in several years back. We are a sixth seed which means we will be paired with the #4 and #5 seeds, Florida and Arizon State. These teams are from arm climates also, so the scores will be interesting.
I was checking out the course and it is absolutley gorgeous!! Here is a link..

I am not sure which tees we will be teeing from, but I will assume gold for right now. Holes #6 and 11 look very scary! The course is not too terribly long, but still quite long. There is water all over the place with a creak that snakes through the entire course with several "lakes" throughout. Depending on where we tee from, some of this water will really make the holes play really long due to laying up. I really expect to see scores similar to the ladies with not too many players under par.
This will be a wonderful tournament and if we can adjust to the weather conditions we should do quite well. Remember, this team is very young, so to end up in the top 10 would be outstanding, but of course we are going for the trophey!
