How many will be skipping some amount of work to watch, and how much?

I plan on watching every game. No ****. I have a feeling I'll end up napping through some or missing a couple for some random reasons, but that is the plan.

This is Other Sports. The mods never check in here; hell, the mods couldn't even give this board a better title than "other sports".

well i have already informed my boss the days i will not be working due to the world cup. i even turned down a week travel assignment (at government per diem) becuase they wanted me to travel to the site during the world cup final!

well I just so happen to work for a certain soccer club in town...and we "have to" go to watching parties etc. I can't believe I HAVE to go watch instead of sitting in my office all day

Luckily for me, being a grad student, my summer job allows me to have a lot of flexible work hours, which means I'll just watch the WC most days and spend afternoons/evenings in my office, with a few exceptions.

Here's hoping that Asia and Oceania don't get a World Cup for a long time. I think my sleeping patterns were still screwed up in the summer of 2003.

2010 shouldn't be bad in South Africa, about the same time difference.

I still remember waking up at 4am in 2002 to watch WC Korea/Japan, that was torture for me.

ya being a grad student kicks ass...im totally watching most of the games live and tivoing the rest

tivoing the most of group play except the USA which i will take time off to watch live. then if the US makes the later rounds i will watch those live as well. I will take the whole day off for the final, no matter who's in.

I work from home so you had better believe I will be watching the games live. But I will also be Tivoing them incase I get interrupted.

I forgot to mention that the first three posts on this thread are comedy gold!

The plan is to take long lunches during games that should be good but not involving the US, and to take vacation days on days the US plays. This is of course in addition to the time I'm taking off to go to Germany.

This is the plan. It could result in the loss of my job, but I'm not that attached to it anyway to be honest.

I'll be watching as many games as I can, which should be interesting considering I usually work 12 hours a day. Of course, I'll be watching the USA-Italy game REALLY live, like in-the-stadium live.

But I too am a soccer elitist. You can't hate your own kind.

I quit my job. Last day June 9th. I'll get a new one in mid July.

One other thing to note.. I remember telling this board that Wolff was ahead of Twellman on Bruce's list and getting slammed for it because Twellman had just scored 6 goals against Norway's C team.
