What a way to finish two goals.

Paulo Wanchope.

Played for Man City for a while I believe. Excellent finisher. Costa Rica had no business being in that game and he only got 3 looks at goal. Scored 2 of them and nearly scored a third.

What game did you watch?? Costa Rica played well and had some good missed opportunities. Germany scored some great goals that the goaly had no chance what so ever.

But to say that Costa Rica "had no business being there" is complete BS.

They might have scored twice, but they were never in the game. They got dominated. They showed flashes of spirit, but were no where near being in that game.

Edit: But they can still make it out of group play based on the Poland/Ecuador game. Especially if Germany gets nine points in group play.

.........to say that they had no business, is stupid to say the least.

Specially when you realise who they played and where they played.

Listen, I applaud Costa Rica's effort and I think they could go through but the ONLY reason why they were in the game is because Wanchope was so clinical with the few chances he got.

Germany- 24 shots(11 on goal)
Costa Rica- 4 shots(3 on goal)

Germany- 57% possesion
Costa Rica- 43% possesion

Germany- 0 saves
Costa Rica- 13 saves

You usually don't see those stats and expect to see a 3-2 game in the last 5 minutes. And if you don't agree with that, then you are the one who is beyond stupid.

Those unusual stats are why I say they scored twice but were still never in the game. How can you say they were in it with FOUR shots? That is what is beyond stupid. Sure they were clinical, but that don't mean ****e if you never get the chances.

i dont know much, but i gotta agree with dre. seemed germany was attacking the entire game but costa rica capitalized on their opportunities. again, i don't know **** but the entire match germany seemed to be in control.

didn't the US have some trouble with costa rica recently?

we beat them at home 3-0 then when we had wrapped up a spot in germany, sent a team of subs to san jose and lost 3-0...

You two dumb butts need some reading comprehension.............I did not agree with the dumb statement that the Ticos "had no business being there"?! Get it?!............and yes, that was a dumb statement. Sorry.

Stats mean shiat, just look at Poland vs. Ecuador.......11-2 corner kicks in favor of.........you guessed it Poland. Time of possession in favor of Poland almost 60%-40%............who won?? Ecuador

Those Stats are irrelevant.

Goals:
16. LAHM Philipp (6') 9.WANCHOPE Paulo(12')11.KLOSE Miroslav (17') 9.WANCHOPE Paulo(73')11. KLOSE Miroslav (61')
8.FRINGS Torsten (87')

Germany scores, 6 minutes later Costa Rica scores then 5 minutes later Germany scores. They go 44 minutes until Germany scores again, Ticos score 12 minutes later and Germany gets a late but incredible goal with 3 minutes remaining.................but tiny Costa Rica who is playing the host country in the opener of the World Cup.........had no business being there???

I say Costa Rica more then handle themselves and played well under the circumstances.

I never said that they had no business being there. I said they had no business being IN THAT GAME (i.e. the scoreline was close...hence they were "in the game"...the entire time despite the fact they rarely had sustained pressure). My point was they were fortunate the game was as close...not that they didn't deserve to be there. THE ONLY REASON the game was as close as it was, is a direct result of the fact that Wanchope capitalized on the few chances...that's it. Costa Rica definitely deserves to be in the World Cup and I still think they could come through the group...but Germany dominated the game.

Learn to read before you start making sheit up and throwing sheit my way.
