Yeah, I know the product on the field was utter crap but I for one was blown away by the number of US fans there. I know we were still outnumbered but considering we had to travel 5000 miles and they had to travel 500, I was impressed. Id say that we had 65% of their numbers...maybe more.

Could you hear US fans in the first half? Was it even a little loud? Pregame experience was awesome...Ill try and post about that when I return.

Hey Dre, you weren't the guy from Texas that Rob Stone talked about, who sold his blood plasma for 8 months to pay for the trip, were you?

On the bandwagon since birth. Raised in the bleachers of Kyle, Olsen, and G. Rollie White

you could hear the fans in the first until the second goal, then it sounded like a tomb on the TV after that, although there was a breif moment when people were chanting Eddies name.

i am glad the US fans showed up in force, great support! i just wish they had something better to cheer about. kinda reminds me of the Cotton bowl last year

did the game look as utter crap in person as it did on the TV?

Ha! No, that wasn't me...although I might have squeezed into a Fox Soccer Channel spot but I don#t think so.

Quick synopsis as I'm waiting for my time to run out as I printed my boarding pass...

Gameday was amazing up until Rosicky's first goal. Happened to catch a train with part of Sam´s Army from Dusseldorf and we were all singing the entire 45 minute ride to Gelsenkirchen. Once off the train, the entire area around the train station (which was mainly bars) was compeltelz full of US fans singing all the way up to the game...most were there since 10AM although I didn't make it till 12. Huge flag was unfurled, songs were sang, and many a beer was drank. There was a decent group of Czech fans too, but for the most part they were pretty quiet. Friendly atmosphere as well...Czechs taking pictures with Americans and vice versa. Even saw a number of fans trade scarves, jersies, etc.

As for the game, every single one of those players needs to check to see if they have any heart whatsoever. Amazingly, Eddie Johnson was the only person who seemed to care in the second half. McBride and Donovan were non-existent, Mastroeni looked tired 3 minutes into the game (seriously, you can't close down that cross that lead to the Koeller goal?), Beasely looked terrified and completely void of confidence (I don't think he made a single run all game and always played a negative ball) and generally speaking, that's how the entire team played the second half. I was so much more disappointed by the second half than the first because the team lacked spirit, heart, and looked tentative and afraid.

I'll probably have more when I return.

It looked terrible. Probably a lot like it looked in person.
