Nope, that is still a penalty according to the new FIFA rules............which states that refs have to call shirt pulling in this World Cup.

Spain did look pretty tough but how good is the Ukraine? I personally think the Czech Republic is vastly overrated and the US just really isn't as good as advertised. In fact nobody else in the world, as far as soccer analysts are concerned didn't really see the US as a threat in the World Cup in the first place. All of the positive publicity they got was from American analysts. Now if they beat Italy, which I highly doubt, then I guess I'm wrong.

It wasn't even in the box. It wasn't the last defender taking out an attacker from behind to stop a breakaway.

At most, it was a yellow card and direct kick. Crappy call.

While Spain was great today, can they sustain it? They have some kind of mental block when it comes to the knockout rounds.

I didn't get to watch the game yet, but what I did hear on XM 147 FIFA WORLD CUP was that they controlled/dominated the game from beginning to the end. That says a lot for a team to be able to keep control the whole game. By the way does anyone here know what language the Setanta Sports channel is broadcasting the World Cup games? Whatever game I miss in the morning I come home and watch on Setanta Sports, but it's never in english.

Crappy call indeed. It was outside the box, and the defender didn't even take away the goal scoring opportunity. A yellow for pulling on the guys shorts would have been understandable.
