Former Baylor players Dorsch and Becker both advanced through Wimbledon qualifying matches to the main draw. Like them or not, that's pretty impressive.

I wonder how Knoll would spin it if they still had eligibility left?

coaching against these 2 guys for 3 years, i knew they were clearly the best players in college but in exactly one year they have gone from qualies of futures all the way to main draw of wimbledon is just amazing..they are 2 of the top 10 biggest atp ranking improvements over the last year..you see several former college players do decent on tour (between 150-350 atp) but rarely do you see them qualify for the grand slams and never do they do it in only a year..

Question - Has any other Texas college had two former players in the Wimbledon main draw in the same year? The only one I can think of is maybe Trinity with Chuck McKinley and Dick Stockton. I'd guess Stanford has probably done it several times but overall this has to be extremely rare.

Kleenex? Whatever. I'm glad they advanced and I hope they do well in the tournament and eventually crack the top 30 or better. I think it will be great for college tennis if its former players start having real success on the tour. Better quality players will give college a shot instead of going straight to the pros.

James Blake is number 7 now I believe, played at Harvard if I recall correctly. College players on the pro tour are few and far between. There are a few pros that take time off to go to college before returning to the tour.

College tennis could be a development ground for players that want to go on the tour. It gives them a means to play high level tennis, and get a degree.

You turn pro in tennis on your own, out of college, or with a sponsor. All it takes is money and lots of it. There is no player draft into a NTL since it is not a team sport, there are no leagues in pro tennis. There is just the tour.

The college tennis environment is doing quite well to nurture players to try the pro tour, too bad the majority are not from the US. This is not helping US tennis or college tennis in the long run.

Well old story, no changes, and Agassi retires this year, another US legend with not many future US players coming along.

I too wish the former Bears good fortune and they won;t be out on the tour very long so they have to strike quickly. They are almost at retirement age for a tennis player.

Baylor fans. Go to your own web site. We don't care for reading about your pro team at Waco. You will earn no respect hear.
