Ok what is the difference between Direct TV-dishnetwork-digital cable-regular cable etc?

I cant keep up anymore
Right now I have a basic cable service, no movie channels but I get ESPN etc I pay about $60 a month. I feel like I am getting ripped off, and most likely am.

I see some deals offering the world for 29.99 a month, but I fell for that one on my current deal and saw my bill jump to over $100 a month very quickly.

Now I hate TV in general and wouldn’t have it if not for sports. I just moved near Washington DC and getting Big 12 games is very hard I have found.

What would be my best option for getting the following channels?

-Fox Soccer
-Fox Sports Southwest
-ESPN
-ESPN2
-OLN
-GOL
-what ever good channels are out there to get good soccer games and big 12 football

I know I can get certain packages for the EPL and MLS and even College Football, but have no idea if they are worth anything at all.

A little help for a technologically handicapped aggie

as part of the America's 180 package, which is $50 a month. Actually, you get the local Fox regional affiliate, but can pay extra for all of them, which I do. The down side is that they can block games, and it seems to happen for games I want to see most, so I might drop that.

If you are interested in soccer, I think that DirecTV offers Smetana, which is the network most bars that show European soccer get. Also on there are Chelsea TV and Arsenal TV (I think). I don't know how much it costs to get.

I will say this, no matter what the commercials say, clouds and rain can affect your service. It's usually not much of a problem in Texas, but it might be more of a problem there.

I can't stand Cox cable, which is why I have the dish, but it is usually more reliable (although I can think of times it wasn't, too). We also have a DVR, which I love and highly recommend.

No problem. I should clarify that Arsenal TV and Chelsea TV are on Smetana, I'm pretty sure, and aren't stand-alone channels.
