Anyone watching it right now?

I am keeping up on the internet. It looks like Floyd found himself over night. It may be a race into Paris for the American afterall.

What a performance - talk about big brass ones! Go Floyd go!

With the time bonuses, he's only 30 seconds from yellow...

Landis just rode like a man possessed, and simultaneously rode himself back into this Tour. I have never seen someone ride like this before. Very impressive.

I want to hear what Lance has to say. That was amazing. I can hardly wait to watch it tonite and listen to Bob Roll.

After seeing him yesterday after the race, I really thought that his hip had popped and today would announce that he was out of the race.

One of the greatest comebacks ever!

If there are seconds that seperate 3-4 of them on Saturday, do they actually race to Paris?

It will be interesting. What a great time for a Stage 18 time trial.

this is a link to the first time trial. if you look at the gaps between landis, sastre and pereiro, then landis has a definite advantage! looks like he fooled everyone!

Unbelievable ride by Landis. I didn't set the DVR to record it this morning. So I asked my wife to record the replay. I watched Landis blow up last night. This is fantastic.

Don't forget on the first TT, Floyd had to switch bikes!! The Tour officials didn't like his aero bars, so they made him lower them. They came loose during the ride, and he had to jump on a new bike. If all goes well Saturday, he should destroy the field.

Allez Floyd!!

The last time the tour finished with a single digit second gap was 1989 when LeMond overcame a 50 second deficit to win by 8 seconds on the final time trial, but that year the time trial finished in Paris and was the last stage of the Tour. Soooo, that doesn't really help.

Landis beat Sastre by 70 secs and Pereiro by 100 secs in the first time trial. Saturday's time trial is slightly longer with more changes in direction and speed. I suppose that means more technical. It seems Landis might have an even bigger advantage because he is both a good climber and descender.

I see no way for Kloden to get back into the race because of the time gap.

It is interesting to find out that Eddy Merckx called and encouraged Floyd. Merckx said that it is not over and to attack early.

That would inspire me.

I wish he would call and tell me to get back to work.

get back to work!

if that's true, then he definitely took the advice. today's stage was the most amazing single handed effort in the modern tour. eddy used to attack from the get go and earned the nickname 'cannibaal' for this tactic.

The reason Flandis had to change his extensions is that the rules state that the handlebars and extensions must be lower than the saddle - ergo he had to lower them below that horizontal line.

Lance was the king! Is this his heir?

I have not seen anything that Lance has said about todays stage. But surely he is impressed as everyone else that follows cycling.

I am watching it now and it is incredible. Floyd's pedal speed is amazing. Especially after seeing him yesterday. He has certainly put a hex on the other contenders. They will be looking at him with fear. And on Saturday they will not see him until the clock ends. And he is the master at time trials. Yes, he learned it from Lance.

what a performance by Floyd. Looks like he took lance's advice from a few years ago - "Ride like you stole something!" I think he just stole the maillot jaune.

Funny moment in last night's replay - anyone else hear Bob Roll drop a GD when Dessel went into the corner to fast and crashed? I think Bob and the guys thought they went to break becasue it was a good 2 minutes with no commentary. I laughed - at the comment not the crash.

Bob Roll was excellent last night dropping the GD. From the way Al Trautwig and Bobke were talking, you could tell that they didn't know they were still live. I was waiting for one of them to say something and he did. All Bobke did was say what we were all thinking. Classic.

I had it on DVR and replayed it a few times. Trautwig mentions going to commercial and then it goes silent for a minute, then they start talking again. No doubt they did not know they were still on the air. Bobke is hilarious.

Have you read this:

It is funny and so believable. Sorry it is not a direct link but instead a cut and paste.
