for all his haters, he was a good memeber of the team who made many memorable goals in tight spots. In his prime a great footballer. I was in England watchng the game against Greece where he bent that ball in with seconds remaining for a draw and a place in the 02 world cup. His PK beat Argentina in that WC and the only reason England went as far as it did in this WC is because of Beckhams Free kick goal.
I look forward to seeing him play in the MLS (most likely for the Galaxy, but we can hope for another team...like DC

Good luck to him. Not the most talented player, buy definately classy. For all the criticism he's had to handle, he's come through every time.

It is hard to understand the hate for this guy. What did people expect, for him to not take the fame and fortune that was laid at his feet due to idol worship? Did they expect him to say, "Yeah, I know that I am not the best player in the world so I am giving all this endorsement money back."

From what I have read about the guy is he trains his arse off and stays in top shape. He supposedly does not drink or smoke.
