If you get half a chance, do yourself a favor and come on out to G Rollie tonight at 6:30 for Ag VB versus OU. Eight fish and three sophs on a roster of 15, already upset #22 Minnesota and 7-1 in non-conf. These girls are going to be something...maybe before the season is out. Big 12 starts tonight and they need and deserve your support.

For only the 2nd time in G Rollie, OU did not get shut out. Even worse, they shut out the Ags in a game that always seemed to have the Ags fighting from behind. 28-30, 26-30, 28-30. I hope someone can provide some analysis on why we dropped this game.

I don't have any doubt that this team can recover from this and have a strong showing in the Big XII. From the one game I was able to attend, I got the impression that this was a close team that fought together hard as a team.

In other news, Aggies All-Access just about makes these kinds of threads obsolete...

I have a feeling that this is going to be a LOOOOONG season

Just got back from the game. Not a good game at all. None of our players really stood out as having a great game. Batis played pretty well.

I didn't agree with all of the substitutions tonight. OU really found a weakness when Hahn and Kainz were trying to block together. Kainz is probably the most improved player from last year, but she just isn't any good at blocking. I was suprised Stanton didn't play more, she's by far our best blocker. Yon didn't have a good game. She hits hard, but her defense is sub-par and she gets blocked too much. Hahn didn't have a good game tonight and we need her to. I did think that Cavadid played well on defense and should have earned more PT.

We had way too many unforced errors tonight and didn't play good defense at all. Even a team like OU can beat you when you play as poorly as we did.

In other news the OU coach only got carded once I believe. Not nearly as many "Sit down bus drivers" as last year either. Good for him...........

On one hand, we're "rebuilding" and have a very young team so setbacks can be expected. However, I hate the term rebuilding, so I won't use that as an excuse. We'll see what our girls have in this next game AT #17 Mizzou.

Up to this point, our girls haven't been disappointing. After a few conference games we'll be able to draw conclusions on whether this was an off night or we really have something to worry about...

Why did we drop it? Couple of reasons.

1) Bad breaks. Really, when every single block you make for a while goes straight outta bounds, it does two things. One is give a ton of points to the other team, and really shakes you mentally. It just seemed that if it could go wrong tonight, it did. Nothing that could really be done about some of that.

2) The refs let OU get away with some serious #@$!. That coach shoulda been kicked, and that #12 on OU needed a volleyball to the face (woulda happened if LJ was still here, but alas). And some of the calls were attrocious. Again, nothing that was helpable.

3) This is the big one. We're young, as in, mostly freshman. The reason we stayed as close as we did is mostly because talent wise, we are miles above OU. Unfortunately, OU came in here more experienced. When they got the jump on us, we just weren't able to recover. We didn't know how. We started to make some stupid mistakes, lost focus. That's just gonna take time and experience to fix.

I'm not really that certain what this season is going to hold. On the one side, I see tonight and I realize how young and inexperienced we are. On the other, we have a LOAD of amazing talent, and Coach Corbelli knows volleyball (she coulda coached that tub of lard underneath the chair he was sagging in if the team was a little older). So in the end, I just don't know. It's too early to tell, yet. Should be interesting, though.

Thanks for the analysis. Hopefully the talent will prevail over youth...

One more thing about tonight that bothered me. It was fish camp night so there was a large ammount of people there that normally don't go to volleyball games. It would have been nice to put on a great performance for them. I'm afraid that many might not want to come back.
