Again, Tiger can not lose any points when he is playing IMO. We need them to battle back for at least a 1/2. Awesome job by Johnson/Campbell! They won the last 2 holes to get the 1/2. I really like Johnson's game for this format.

Wood/Furyk lost 2-down

Woods/Furyk lose 2DN. Jim hit his second into the water after nice drive by Tiger. 4-2 Euros with 2 matches left.

Cink/Toms got a half. We really, really need Phil and Chris to win their match. They are up 1 thru 17.

Damn- Mickelson/DiMarco lose 18 and only get 1/2. That sucks. 5-3 Euros after Day 1. We need to turn that score around, or better tomorrow. I don't want the US to be down going to the singles.

Unfortunately, the US team is terrible at team golf. The Euros thrive in this format and consistently kick our butts in it.

The Euros knock down pressure shot after shot. We seem to fold, when it gets tight.

One huge question - what have Woods and Mickelson contributed to the Ryder Cup the last 5 meetings?

Very Little. They don't need to be playing in the team events in which they are abysmal.

I know this started back in 1927 (officially), but they should have a similar match play of minature golf. Yep, Europe and the U.S., and you have to use those moving windmill blades, slopes and ramps, etc. Oh, and b*tch slapping your opponenet should be allowed as well.

You guys forget that the Euro PGA had a tourney at the K-Club for a while. The US, meanwhile, has gotten to play a total of 36 practice holes this week and 36 a couple of weeks ago.

The Americans got it handed to them. What an A$$ kicking by the Euros.

I think if they could pass on the Ryder Cup, they would like tennis players do/have done with the Davis Cup. Problem is I don't think anyone has EVER passed on the Ryder Cup. They would get skewered in the press. I just think that Americans don't give a flip about international events. That goes for basketball, baseball and hockey as well. Yes they were there, and they played, but I don't see them having any passion for it, like the internationals. When the Euro team was announced, Thomas Bjorn was left off the team. He initially lashed out at Ian Woosnam he was so upset. Could you imagine any American having a similar reaction if they weren't picked? Ryder Cup seems more like an obligation to the US Team.

Wow. Nice way to show-up guys. I just can't believe we are so bad at this format now. In 2 years the event will be at Valhalla. It's not a regular tour stop but there have been some major events there recently. Maybe that will help some. Phil went 0-4-1 in the competition; that is horrendous.

I heard that Paul Casey was quoted as wanting to win the Cup more than a major. The guys on the Ticket this morning were taking to Feherty and asked him about that quote. He said that is absolutely the attitude of the Euros. Basically said that it IS considered a major in Europe.
