Where are you finding this, I can't get the stats link from the Aggie Athletics webpage to work. It brings up the gametracker but just says live game feed will begin automatically once the game has started.

Does anyone know if Rhodes and Kelner were splitting the games or was Corbelli running a 6-2?

xc, you already have the mindset of many long-suffering Aggies. The VB program has been in a steady decline, and has settled into the Big 12 South basement. Expect to see a change.

You mean a change as in the corbellis' seat getting hotter?

The signs are becomming more obvious by the week. Shocking losses to OU and ISU, being swept three times in conference play, and barely beating KSU (winner of 1 match in conference play) has focused intense scrutiny on LC. Notice that she had no quotes in the press release for the ISU loss.

BB suffers no losers. LC needs to orchestrate a sudden and dramatic improvement in this team. She will not be permitted to squander the talent she signed.

I'm not ready to beat the drums of change yet, but on the other hand given the fact that the decline has been going on unarrested for five years now, I'm not sure I would rally round the family if some kind of change were proposed.

Yes, we got some good players this year, but one recruiting class does not make a dynasty. Frankly, recruiting between 2002 and this year has been very unproductive. After griping about not having a backup setter all last year I'm glad to see there's someone else to play the position. I could not believe when I read the press release on signing day last November and there wasn't a setter in the bunch. Can you imagine if Kainz were sidelined like this and we hadn't managed to pick up Rhodes at the last minute?

Now we have three promising outsides (who still have a long way to go before they compete with Nebraska and Texas) and what could turn out to be a very good setter in Courtnee Rhodes (who will always be a liability on front row). If they grow like we hope, great! If they don't, then we can expect to finish in the bottom half of the conference for a long time. But now we need to see the same aggressive recruiting to the middle blocker. There's no one on our roster who is remotely ready even to fill Hahn's shoes, much less approach the level of Felder or Munsch. Last year our other hitters had good percentages even against good teams, because the block/defense always had to be ready for Laura Jones. Without a dominant hitter to anchor our attack strategy, this year the opposing teams can relax and stifle our hitters one by one.

But recruiting aside, what is needed more than anything else is training in the fundamentals. Watching video of matches, and finally getting to see the team live at Rollie last week, the majority of important points we lost were gifts to the other team in the form of bad passing, weak serving, and freeball transitions which our attackers put into the tape. You cannot win a game in rally scoring when you surrender every third point on technical mistakes.

Here's the rundown of points in game 4 against the Longhorns:

1-0 Aggie kill
1-1 UT kill
1-2 UT kill
1-3 Aggie error
1-4 Aggie error
1-5 Aggie error
1-6 UT kill
2-6 UT error
2-7 UT kill
3-7 UT error
4-7 UT error
5-7 Aggie kill
5-8 UT kill
5-9 UT kill
5-10 Aggie error
6-10 Aggie kill
6-11 Aggie error
7-11 Aggie kill
7-12 Aggie error
8-12 Aggie kill
8-13 UT kill
8-14 Aggie error
9-14 UT error
10-14 UT error
10-15 UT kill
10-16 UT kill
11-16 Aggie kill
11-17 UT kill
11-18 UT kill
12-18 UT error
12-19 Aggie error
13-19 Aggie kill
13-20 UT kill
13-21 UT kill
13-22 Aggie error
13-23 Aggie error
13-24 Aggie error
14-24 UT error
14-25 UT kill
15-25 Aggie kill
15-26 UT kill
16-26 Aggie kill
16-27 UT kill
16-28 Aggie error
17-28 Aggie kill
17-29 UT kill
17-30 Aggie error

13 errors. That is half of a 30 point game all on its own, and is more than twice as many as UT in that game. Yes, we were physically overmatched by their hitters. No, we couldn't control or even slow down Destinee Hooker - and at this point no one in the NCAA can. But we have to take care of business on our side of the net.

At this point you can't even properly evaluate the potential of the team, because there's a fog of errors clouding the statistical picture. At least I hope the errors are the fog and not the picture itself.

it's a YOUNG team for gosh sakes - expect errors. They will be better the last half of the season.

I know we're a young team and have suffered some injuries, but the question is whether we're going to have enough to make it to the tourney and whether corbelli will be around next season, 'getting better' at this point won't be enough to do either.

Bottom line is, things should not have fallen off to the point to where it has gotten this bad. We have been reduced to the point of having to bring in a huge freshman class and hope they grow into winners at some point in their careers. What do you do in three more years when nearly half your team leaves to graduation? I certainly don't like the cycle that has now developed with that program.

Sorry but that dog don't hunt, for me.

I agree that there's good potential in the 2006 freshman, but that doesn't mean you just give up and write off 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 (and in those last two years Jones/Munsch were the only reason the cracks weren't as glaringly obvious as they are this year). If you look at the history of this program, there is a huge difference in recruiting between the first 9 years of the Corbellis tenure and the most recent four years. I saw the letdown developing and would bring up concerns but was shouted down as "not having faith" in the team. Sorry to disappoint, but I remember when this program was in legitimate contention for reaching the Final Four, something that we've been nowhere close to in the last three years. Faith and myopia are not the same thing.

If you find yourself at the end of 2004 looking into 2005 and realizing that those 2005 veterans would probably get spanked by any of your freshman classes between 1996-2001, you should realize there's a serious problem. Recruiting is not something you do in one huge blowout every four years, it needs to be a continual process to ensure you replace graduating talent with developing talent, not total rookies. The coach is getting 70k-120k a year for nothing other than putting a good team on the floor, so I feel it's legitimate to express concern over what looks like four years of nonexistent recruiting/development.

Wannaggie, I was one the ones who shot you down and now I stand corrected. But believe me, the Corbellis know they're on the hot seat. However they're really nice and hard working people so I wish them the best of luck even if their future doesn't involve the aggies.

One Sr. graduating this year and a good one. So we get one recruit to add to 8 sophmores to be next year? So there is no significant help coming into the program at the end of this year. We will have to make do with the 8 freshmen 3 sophs and 3 Jrs. who are not getting it done as it is. How we got into the position of having to bring in 8 freshmen this year is the crux of the problem with the program. Recruiting has been pretty much non-existant the last three years it seems.

It will never happen under the current regime. Good programs don't rebuild, they reload. This program is exactly where R.C. was in football. They've had some really good years and had a chance to become one of "the" programs, but have now lapsed into mediocrity. It's unacceptable. Next year better be awful d**n good or I say hit the road. There are no excuses for the poor fundamentals and performance. We gave away the CU match tonight. Gave it away.
