I know of a softball player in Garland who is a pretty good pitcher (24-1 with a 0.20 ERA last year). I always see those notices in Texas Aggie about how to handle this sort of stuff but don't have that information at my disposal. Is it OK for me to contact the softball team about this girl? I thought you could suggest recruits to A&M but needed to be careful about talking to the recruit directly. Thanks all!

If she is that good, she should be on a 18Gold team and they should be playing in the many college exposure tourn. that go on all year. Having Umpired for 12 years (JO and now College) I've done enough of these. I don't know of any experienced 18-Gold coach who doesn't at least know some coaches. and many college coaches come to the exposure Tourn. to scout. They generally won't come out to high school games unless they have signed or are about to sign a particular player. Again, if this girl is so good you think she should be looked at, get her on a team, while I'm down in houston and don't know many teams up in your neck of the woods, there are good ones that are known by other teams and college coaches for bringing good talent. I also know that after the b.s. high school season, there are several college exposure Tourn. in Houston. And after nationals (starting around Oct.) there are more, so before you go p!$$ing off a college coach, check with teams and parents who have sent theirs girls to college. Hope that helps.

To follow usagraves, if the lady is interested in a specific school, go to that particular schools athletic website, hit softball, and there should be a questionaire to fill out. Have the girl fill it out and submit to the school in question.

If this chick is as good as you say, she will eb seen. On the other hand, don't expect her to be seen as a high school player- college coaches very, very rarely watch HS games; they do their scouting at the exposure tournaments that are played and also at the camps they hold. I speak from experience- my daughter plays softball and she gets more attention at the exposure tournaments than she does in season, if any then. As an example, her hs team played today in a tournament, and there wasn't one college coach, scout, etc at the tournament.

I love my family...
