I started a new thread for the Aggie women swimmers. NCAAs start Thursday March 8.

Lots of info below:

http://www.collegeswimming.com/NCAA2/

First day should be a good one for the Ags - two relays. We're seeded 7th in the 200 free relay and 3rd (!) in the 400 medley. Strong seedings in the 200IM (7th and 8th).

Swim fast girls!

Gig 'Em Ags! These girls are pumped to be at this meet, and this year they're not just content to be there, they wanna make some noise. Spice you're right that medley should be a great race for us on the first day. Dont forget about the 500 as well, fully tapered and shaved I would think Hansen and Heiss can make the top 8 at least, with Stratton and freshman Hain not too far behind. We are gonna see some FAST swimmin at this meet, thats for sure

Looking forward to it. The only question is...will there be a cool live video feed like there was at big XII?
Also, did anyone see that the aggieathletics web page now has RSS feeds for every sport?! How awesome!
Go get em ladies.

"..............With a meet as wide open as this one, no team should be overlooked. Texas A&M is coming off perhaps its best season ever......"

I think the Ags are kind of flying under the radar and like that!!!!! Gig'em

girls finish 8th in prelims of 200 FR just ahead of cal (9th) bahahaha

Alia Atkinson swam a great leg of this relay - maybe we'll see Christine Marshall in finals?... although I can't see a weak leg on the prelim relay.

so cool that we can plug in swimmers that way.

mike - there will be a live scoreboard with commentary on espn360 tomorrow and saturday. the finals will be shown on tv pretty soon, i can't imagine they would allow a real webcast

not video, but live results for anyone who needs it.

Excellent 200FrR for the ladies, rough 500s tho, except for Heiss.

Early heats of IM's Mahoney, 2:00.60 WOW!!!!!

Heiss in 500 consols - i'll give that a smiley considering she would have had to drop another 2 seconds to make finals

speaking of dropping 2 seconds, erin mahoney just busted out a 2:00 IM - awesome!

Good relays and IM today. Nice 50 for Triin. Hansen is off. Sturdy's 50 was off.

Hope they have some speed tonight!

i'm sure they'll be fine - depending on how diving comes out and how far we move up and down we move within out heats, we should be in the top 5 after today. crazy.

I wonder how/if Bultman will mix up the relays tonight. The medley will be faster for sure, but so is the competition. gonna be exciting

We're 6th right now. Our 400 medley relay was disappointing. Beaten by Texas.

200 free relay = 2 school records
500 free = Heiss = 2 best swims of her life
200 IM = Wilkinson 1st ever big girl final
50 free = Triin Aljand = holy sh*t
400 medley relay = disappointing sure but d*mn they are still 7th

They are ready to rock so far...the 200 free tomorrow has the potential to be INCREDIBLE

up and down session in the morning

Good = 200 medley relay, marshall, stratton
Bad = Atkinson doesn't make it in with a 1:00? Ouch; 100 back was a stinker too

Definitely not a great day. Our big guns are off. Sturdy and Wilkinson are definitely not swimming well. Sturdy's fly and Wilk's back were way off their best.

I'm disappointed in our swims so far. I hate to say it....but I think the girls left their best swims in CS at the Big12s.

Christine Marshall and Triin are swimming well. Not making finals in the 100 back is perhaps the most surprising of all. Also surprising is the 800 free relay - we added 2 secs.

Wilkinson is only off in the backstroke...she split 1:46.32 leading off the relay...that would have put her ninth in the 200 free had she swam it in the morning instead of getting nothing at all in the 100 back...she also went 22.8 leading off the 200 free relay yesterday...for some reason, just the backstroke is giving her problems...

Diving is in the mix of the total points...right? Isn't that the main reason the sips outscored us? I don't think A&M had a diver to qualify...right?

Texas scored 50+ points in diving and beat us by less than 25 so yes we whipped them swimming (again)

It's hard to get up & swim fast 3 times in 4 months. The girls did great & have really created an expectation of winning over the past couple years. Keep it up!

Really? That's interesting. That seems like a fairly long period to be able to swim fast 3 times, but I'm totally ignorant on swimming and the associated training. How do teams like Auburn do it?

Auburn doesn't swim particularly fast at their fall invite...they are also much faster at NCAA's than SEC's too (even though they do win SEC's)...they only swim as fast as they need to until NCAA's...it's a product of having so much talent that they can toy with the competition throughout the year then kill them at NCAA's

...so for the Men's meet this weekend, the Ags have one swimmer (Duran) that will compete?
Look Out Below
How long do you want to ignore this user?

yep just Duran...Sehn will score a ton of points in diving though and should push the ags into the top 25 by himself...Duran has the talent to score points too..he's ranked top eight in the 200 fly coming in

It is a CRIME that Jacobo didn't make the meet...won a conference title against the No. 2 team in the country, breaks the A&M record and can't make the meet? Ouch.
bogustrumper
How long do you want to ignore this user?

...so Jacobo didn't make it because his time wasn't good enough?

How many points do you think Sehn and Duran will bring in?

I think the Princeton women's team had a similar situation last weekend... one swimmer and one diver

Jacobo was one of the first people not to make the meet...Optimistically Duran and Sehn could score 50 points which would put them well within the top 25
texagg09

Ya based on all of the times that have made the meet in years past, Jacobo's 200 would have definitely made it. Faster meet this year. I think Duran can for sure score in the top 8, and with a great swim could push top 5. Sehn is the same way. If he dives how he did at conference, or better, he could win/top 3. Funny how on the women's side, diving is the reason they got beat by texas, and on the men's side, diving is going to be the reason they make it into the top 25.
