Barone - from Creighton where he was an up-n-comer.....one NIT season

Watkins - from UNC-Charlotte where his team made 2 NCAA appearances and Sweet 16....0-16

BCG - from UTEP....worked a miracle

we are at the highest point in the history of our hoops program, so we do not need to try and hire a mid-major hot name and take a chance that he can't handle the big time conference recruiting and coaching....we need a coach with a PROVEN record at a MAJOR conference school to take us to the next level....

i hope we are aiming to improve our program and take it to the next level instead of sliding back to a mid-level program that will accept NIT berths....i want a coach to build a program that will be in the NCAA tourny every year

I agree NovAg. However, if I remember correctly, Denton wasn't Bill's first choice. In fact, I think he was his fourth or fifth choice. For the life of me, I don't know why so many coaches turned us down. Even Tceh's coach said thanks but no thanks.

haha....well i agree with you...i played for Cass and was the asst coach at TCU and Arizona, where we played Denton and Corpus every year, and I thought it was a shaky hire....especially since he played for the horns and coached a team that only made the NCAA's once in 4 yrs....

FYI, Rick Barnes wasn't even in Kentucky's top five. No program is dumb enough to hire him.
