Say I'm going to be in Denver in July and have time to play one round of golf. Where would you play?

Depends on what you are looking for and how much time you have.

1. The Golf Club at Bear Dance (www.beardancegolf.com/)
This is one of my favorite courses along the front range. It is in the foothills south of Castle Rock. If you have the time to drive there this is definitely #1.

2. The Ridge at Castle Pines (www.theridgecpn.com/)
This course is always in great shape and also has great elevated tee boxes and mountain feel. It is managed by Troon, so if you have a troon card you can get a discount. But otherwise it can be a little pricey.

3. Fossil Trace (www.fossiltrace.com/)
This is one of the better public courses very close to downtown. It is in Golden, but less then 10 min from Denver Downtown. You need to check out the website and look at the course design. It is pretty cool and very reasonable in price.

If you are looking for something different let me know. I love golf and have played just about all of the courses in town.

They have The Dunes #1, which I think is a great course but is a little overrated. Also it does not give you the feel of playing in the mountains, it is in the flatlands and you could play that anywhere.

Again my favorite is Bear Dance but it is a good little drive south on I-25, but for people in Texas it should be no big deal

IT is about 40 miles south of downtown. Depends on time of day.

So How was it?

I played over the weekend, Fossil Trace seemed like it was in pretty good condition. The pin placements were questionably hard, but overall it looked good.

Still want to know what you thought

The 14th is ridiculous when they put the pin on the upper tier.

Looks like an easy pin to me. I could stop it with a 3 iron from 250 out, no problem.
