Truex will probably stay, plus there will be plenty of drivers wanting to run for DEI. Jr. will probably end up and RCR running either the #3 or #33.

I think this was a great move on Jr's part. He can pretty much go where ever he wants (with a Chevy team.) Bud recognizes his popularity and will most likely stick with him. The sales of his new gear will generate millions of dollars. In my opinion, he should be the only one to ever drive the #3 in his father's footsteps. Hopefully Jr and his team can keep focus after making this announcement. After watching clips from the press conference, it seemed like it was a tough thing for Jr to announce. Theresa is just greedy, but in the end this move will be a great thing for Dale Jr.

A major set back for DEI. But who cares. Jr is the man.

I would love to see him join up with Tony at Gibbs. But I suspect he goes to RCR to drive the #3. He has mentioned that move too many times. As has Richard Childress.

Kudos to Little E, I never have liked Teresa. I think she is greedy and has not treated Jr or Kelly properly. And certainly not Kerry.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Think of the battles between Jr-Tony vs Jeff-Jimmy. Those would be great races. Especially the Daytona-Talladega races.

So, if you were in Theresa/Max Seigel's shoes, would you have turned over control to Jr? I think they may regret not doing it down the road but I can also see how it would be tough turning over the reigns without compensation to something you started with your deceased spouse.

Good move by Jr. He called his step mother's bluff and strikes out on his own. He could end up with any number of teams or expand his Busch series operation to include his cup team. His step mother has been running DEI into the ground by not focusing on therace teams and by not reinvesting into the racing operations.

Jr. could end up with RCR, Gibbs, or even one of the Hendrick satellites (unless Mears keeps failing in which case the 25 may open up, Mears has the talent and lacks seat time, but who would rather have driving Mears or Jr.? )

Interestingly enough, Kerry works for DEI and could slide into a Cup ride if needed, but it also opens things up for Jeffery Earnhardt, Jr. nephew and his half sister (Theresa's daughter). Given the rumor's that flew of DEI merging with Yates and becoming a Ford team, or even the possibility of switching to Toyota which now becomes a possibilty (perhaps a merger with MWR).

This is the tip of iceberg, the whole story will come out as the season goes on and hopefully by Daytona or at the latest before the Chase starts, Jr. will know where he is going.

If DEI and Yates merged they would race Chevy's. I think Dale would roll over in his grave if the team he started was racing that japanese sh*t.

Gibbs has a policy against using an alcohol company as a sponsor...so i would rule them out.

Interesting. I didn't know that about Gibbs. I was giving them the inside track to snag Jr. but might have to go with RCR or Hendrick now.

i think treux should take the #8 car, not that it matters, cause its gonna be weird seeing someone else other than Jr in #8, but i would feel better about it being Truex

Read something yesterday that said that Jr. may not be tied to Bud if it means racing for the better team (i.e.: Gibbs).

here is the article:

quote:
But NASCAR's most popular driver, according to sources close to the situation, won't renegotiate a contract with the beer company until he gets a deal with another organization.

That means you can't completely count out Joe Gibbs Racing, which is philosophically opposed to connecting itself with an alcoholic beverage.
