Here is how I have them (in order). I know it's almost in-line with the morning line, but I just don't see much in this field to work with....

8 - Street Sense
4 - Curlin
7 - Hard Spun
3 - Circular Quay
5 - King of the Roxy
2 - Xchanger
6 - Flying First Class
9 - C P West
1 - Mint Slewlep

I see very little if any value in this race as Street Sense, Curlin, and Hard Spun are far superior horses.

I would look for Flying First Class to go out and set the pace and fade.

Xchanger, Circular Quay, and King of the Roxy could pop and finish 2nd and make for a nice "with" on some exacta bets, but I wouldn’t spend too much betting on this race.

Just this hack’s opinion.

We'll be making a 3x6x6 $1 trifecta box ($60) with 8-4-7 over 8-4-7-3-5-2 over 8-4-7-3-5-2

We'll also throw down $10 on 6 to show.

Finally I think we'll put $10 on 3 to win (just-in-case).

I would love to hear what you guys think.

Can't fault you too much on your picks, with a few exceptions. I'm thinking Cirqular Quay is a great shot for 2nd/3rd. Hard Spun is my odds-on favorite. Agree with the $10 on Circular Quay win bet. Definitely agree with the pace then fade scenario you presented with Flying. My bet would be 8-7-3/8-7-3-4-5/8-7-3-4-5 @ $2 for the Trifecta (how much is that?). Street Sense will need another near-perfect trip in this race to win. Will Curlin bounce?
*note: I noticed the odds on CQ dropping rapidly as the race approaches so it might not be of great value. However, these races pay quite a bit simply because of the number of bets, so go for it.

BTW- I was at the KD and had SS and Hard Spun, however, CQ and AGS both had bad trips to take me away from a >$1000 payday. Still mad at CQ as he was the one I felt had a chance. Oh well, that is horseracing for you

oh man...anybody just see that spill at one of the preakness undercard races? It look extremely painful for the horse and rider.

ags1995 - That $2 trifecta would cost $72(3x4x3 = 36 bets @ $2 per bet).

The biggest problem with betting the trifecta in this race is that unless King of the Roxy or Xchanger comes in it's not going to pay anything more than $30 or $40.

Good luck.

I was thinking the payoff would be closer to 50 or 60 on a $2 wager. Luckily, I didn't bet it. The Preakness field is just too small to make money on it with these horses.

Anyway, Curlin craps on me again! I really thought he would bounce, but alas that's why I suck at this game. Furthermore, Pletcher is giving me ulcers. CQ probably is a better bet in a longer race, although color me unimpressed with his performances to date. Guess, I need to keep reading more.

Good call by the first poster.

Here is how I had them (and where they actually finished) and variance from prediction.

8 - Street Sense (2nd) -1
4 - Curlin (1st) +1
7 - Hard Spun (3rd) +/-0
3 - Circular Quay (5th) -1
5 - King of the Roxy (6th) -1
2 - Xchanger (8th) -2
6 - Flying First Class (9th) -2
9 - C P West (4th) +4 (only one I badly missed)
1 - Mint Slewlep (7th) -2

We'll see you guys on June 9th.
