A&M is hosting a big meet this weekend?

Yeah - it is a Senior Circuit meet - which is a USA Swimming meet. There are fairly stiff qualifying times so most of the swimmers will be high school age or older.

The times will be good but nothing special because most good swimmers are in heavy long course training right now. The long course championship meets start in about a month with US Nationals the big one at the end of July.

I suspect some of the big guns like Hansen, Peirsol, Crocker, etc. are swimming because their sponsors need them to.

I wonder why meets like this aren't publicized better...you'd think people would be interested in watching several U.S. Olympians perform...can you imagine if say Marion Jones or Maurice Greene or a big-time tennis player or golfer were in town the coverage it would get?

Probably because the Rec Center nazis are....well....stupid.

From what I remember about these meets is that it's majority local (Texas) teams with a handfull of high level club teams (Curl-Burke, KC Blazers, Swim Atlanta type teams) that come in. The olympians come due to proximity more than anything else. Notice the names listed are all UT guys.

Didn't the A&M Sr Circuit meet replace Woodlands? I thought the idea was to have one in each of the three main LSC. I always liked woodlands and SMU because they were outside. I've been out of the loop for a while now, so I don't recall.

The Woodlands Sr Circuit Meet is in the middle of May, with the SMU one at the beginning of June, this one, and then the last one in Austin middle of July.

You're right, nearly all of the big names entered in this meet are Texas Guys, and most everyone else is from inside the state, barring a few exceptions.
