What sports slogans and terminology drives you crazy? For me, it's the following:

______ Nation - i.e. Raider Nation, Aggie Nation, etc.

Referring to the game as "battle" or "war"

The overuse of the world "obviously" during interviews.

Battle -

- participation in such hostile encounters or engagements
- a fight between two persons or animals:
- any conflict or struggle
- to work very hard or struggle
- to fight (a person, army, cause, etc.): We battled strong winds and heavy rains in our small boat.
- to force or accomplish by fighting, struggling, etc.

any time someone says a team is better/worse than they're record... last time I checked a team with 4 wins and 9 losses is as good as a 4-9 team

Thought about some more:

When an athlete or coach is giving an interview, and they proclaim that "nobody gave us a chance" and "we're shocking the world" or "we're making history" etc.

Making history? Please. I bet 9 out of 10 people can't name you a year after the game, no matter how big of a game it is.

Is that a shocked face or just padding the post count?

making history is one that should be reserved for special circumstances.

for instance: the women's and men's basketball teams this year, women's swimming and women's athletics in general. all had history making seasons. women's swimming even had the motto "make history" and they did. A&M has never won a conference championship. texas was an 8 time defending champion and our aggies beat them almost on swimming points alone. i'd say they made history!

I know there are plenty, but they are just not coming to mind right now. Here's a start:

"We just could not find our rhythm." = The other team was just better than we are.

What is the plural form of "RBI"?

"We gave 110%" How is that possible?

Shortening the term penalty (penalty kick) into 'PK'.

"So and so has just been brought down, and it's a PK!!!"

Hate that.
