Men's team @ Missouri tonight.

Both @ Big 12 relays Friday.

Women's @ Missouri and Iowa St. Saturday and Sunday.

We'll see where they are. I'm particularly interested in the additions to the men's team and I'd like to see how Codie Hansen is doing. No news about her over the summer.

I'll be interested to see how Brackin's recruits turn out...they took some big hits losing arguably their best four swimmers in Tinnon, Avila, Brown and Robinson...Brittany Sacco is also not on the roster either for some reason...their breaststroke dominance has been completely overturned with the Ags returning Atkinson, Dulian, Iserman and adding Maxvill vs Texas with just Spann and a new freshman

The bad news for A&M is according to swimmingworldmagazine.com, the Texas women have a monster class coming in next year...not good

Hopefully Bultman is working on that. He probably doesn't have much to give (scholarships) with our monster junior class. I think it is interesting how few Longhorn Aquatics swimmers have chosen to stay in Austin. Kelsey Ditto went to Georgia. Scott Spann went to Michigan. And others.....

I would love to see Mary Beck, Jessica Rodgriguez, or Samantha Tucker swimming for the good guys.

Wow,
the men lost to Mizzou, I'd like to see the results as I am kind of surprised...most likely Mizzou was geared up for the meet, I doubt they will beat us at conference, but only time will tell...
as I said, if anyone has any numbers from the dual meet, I'm interested!

Hey,
What the heck is happening...the meet results for yesterdays event shows us WINNING the meet 129-114. I looked at all the events and everything looked right, the swimmers were right (ozzie back), and the date was right (10/18/07).
I don't get it.

I couldn't find any results but based on the writeup at MU it looks like we were killed in the distance events. MU was 1-2-3 in 500 and won the 1000.
sprintermike

there were results under the live link for todays events...now gone.
I don't get it...MU website showed the same results on their highlight writeup as the live stats had for the results....

Live results are available for the relays right now.

Girls are cruising....men as expected - Texas 1, A&M 2, MU 3.

Texas women don't seem particularly fast. They have a pretty good FR breaststroker.

Looks like your Hansen question is answered...51.00 leading off the 4x100 and 23.6 split in the 4x50...looks like she is back on track

Atkinson 1:02.8 leadoff breast split...very nice

Heiss 4:54 for 500 split...nice as well

The men are solidly better than MU except in distance events. We seem to suck there right now. And we swam Duran on the 3x500 relay. Texas trounced us without Klueh.

The women look good. Our A and B 200 medley actually finished 1-2.

No Emily Neal for A&M. What's up? Is she injured?

The girls win all 16 relays for the second year in a row! Very impressive! Nice job ladies!

Love that Jacobo 50 breaststroke (25.75). Good sign for this time of year.

It was interesting to see how the times got slower in the second half of the meet. Each of the swimmers swam many races, some just a few minutes apart.

Our "A" mens relays generally swam well.

Our women completely dominated the meet.
sprintermike

I still don't get the mens dual meet, if anyone can find a complete set of results...i swear the men won...i looked at it event by event, watch us get ahead, then fall behind, then catch up, etc...
I swear the final score was us...maybe they added wrong...I don't think so but something is up.
The relays were pretty solid for men and women, happily what we expected I think.

I heard we did indeed lose...got killed in the distance and diving events, lost the 200 breast...Duran DQ'd in the 200 IM, etc...plus Missouri is always just as fast in October as they are in February...sucks for the Ags now, but we'll pummel them later on
BigPapaB

Ya mizzou always swims exactly the same now as they do in Feb. They did win the dual, but what i think is interesting, is how at the relay meet, with the exception a few relays (150Bk and 3X500Fr), the Ags completely dominated Mizzou, beating them by alot in each race, and were usually within striking distance of Texas...I think the horns are gonna have their hands full in those MedRelays, and the 200FrRelay come February...

In the relays - our men's A is usually close to Texas' A. But man for man, race for race, Texas is faster than us at every position. Duran is our top gun, and our sprinters will do well. But Texas was missing Michael Klueh, one of the top distance freestylers in the US, and Matt McGinnis. They have enormous dept in events like 200-500 freestyle. Texas men will kill us in the dual meet.

I don't get the MU loss, unless it was diving. Our distance freestyle is not good so MU clearly beat us there.

The women OTOH were super strong. I'm not sure Texas has a swimmer at any event/distance 500 or shorter that can beat us.

The string continues Spicewood...JRod committed to Stanford (along with Samantha Woodward)...they are bringing in a nice group too

I really don't understand why Bultman can't get more in state talent. Codie was a great recruit, but Heiss, Wilkinson, Atkinson, Sturdy, etc. are all from out of state or country.

Maybe the difference is Top 5 at NCAAs vs. Top 10-15? Olympians?
sprintermike
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Bultman is great at picking up talent...I wouldn't let the fact that there are few instaters get me down, it's a sign of success.
A&M is good enough that Texas high school swimmers have to compete with everyone in the country to get a scholarship.
BigPapaB

Spice, not doubt the Texas men will dominate the dual meet, but come conference, those sprint/medley relays WILL be a bunch of dog fights.

also, i dont think the texas talent is such a big deal, especially when Steve can pull in the big/bigger fish out of state. That is a luxury the men dont have...(yet)

theres a bunch of texas talent.
there melissa hain who won big 12 400 im and emily neal. they both rep'd at ncaas. casey hurrell-zitelman is amazing at distances. all in all i think we have a great team and i think they're gonna do awesome this year.

I'm not knocking Bultman's recruiting.

And I agree there is a lot of talent in Texas. And Hain, Neal, etc. are very good. But there are a number of girls in Texas who as juniors have Olympic Trials cuts. We're not getting those girls. Those are people like Kelsey Ditto, Samantha Tucker, Mary Beck, Micah Lawrence, Jessica Rodriguez and more. The amazing thing is they aren't going to Texas, but choosing to leave for out of state schools. Surely we tried to get them. I wish I knew why they left the state.

from what i've heard, brackin and randy reese do not get along very well...she won't let his swimmers on her team and he won't let his (female) swimmers go to t.u.

My kids once swam for Longhorn Aquatics. But don't any longer. I have my opinion of RR. Maybe Brackin is smart!

on the Texas talent note for a quick second-- im not trying to bash the texas talent, or take anything away from the in state ladies, but Hain and Neal were not Top NCAA quality talent in high school. granted they were good, but they improved so much their first year in college, thats what got them to be the impact swimmers they are now.

casey strange had a very good practice this morning. I am sure he will do very well in Indiana this weekend

He had a good practice?? Did he go low 20s in practice?

What exactly does this mean?

He's a great young swimmer and I look forward to his improvement.
