PSA: Unsubscribing from RenewalByAnderson USPS mailings

I made the mistake, years ago, of having Renewal-by-Anderson give me an estimate. Their estimate was a no-go (3-4x the estimate from nearly every other estimate) and ever since then I get repeated offers from them in my mailbox.

I recently found this link (from Reddit) that purports to provide a means of unsubscribing from their USPS mailings. I tried it yesterday, so we'll see.

Hopefully it's genuine. I'd think if it wasn't legit, then they'd be asking for more contact info (email, mobile, etc) just to harvest that info. But, they don't ask for that (just name & address, which is already widely available).

Hope that helps. I'll probably post this in Home Improvement too.

This is physical mail? Just throw it away. Whats the big deal?

I prefer to take the envelope that says "no postage necessary if mailed in the US," put all my other junk mail in that envelope, and then put it in the mailbox. I haven't tried taping the envelope to a brick and mailing that back to them, but that might be next.

Years ago I had a stamp made that says "Return to Sender. Remove from Mailing List."

I stamp the front of any junk mail with a return address and drop it off at the post office to get sent back. It significantly reduced the amount of junkmail I get.

It annoys me.

Originally, it was recognizable via printing on front or back the envelope/card.

But, now they come in envelopes with no return address or other identifying markings and they're addressed (with what looks like handwriting, but surely must be automated) directly to me or to my family.

I get at least one mailing a week from Beltone hearing aids. I'm 53 and have a lot of old man problems, but hearing loss isn't one of them.

I open my mail right next to the trash can. It takes 2 seconds to drop the unwanted junk into the can. This is the dumbest thing to be annoyed by.

Email I get…it can cause you to miss things. But physical mail takes no effort to rid yourself of. Drop it in the trash and move on.

My mailbox is in a common area, with no trash/recycling. So, walking a mile to the mailbox and carrying extra crap is annoying.

Walking a mile? Drive your car to the mailbox. Much faster and can keep you out of the elements.

You are carrying mail. If you walk to the mailbox and them walk back with your mail, one being an envelope from this place, how can that possibly be annoying to what else you are already carrying??

We have had the opposite problem, i.e., the USPS ignoring the new address of a home we just built. The city gives you the address, the state puts up the mailbox, we put the address on the box. Should be good to go.

Three trips to the post office, about a dozen notifications made to the national number and the address is still not in their system. Two weeks in, some government snit told me it can take up to two weeks since they only do uploads two or three times a week. I told her then, in two weeks, there should be four to six uploads, why wasn't mine included? Been nearly two months and it still isn't in the system, shows as an invalid address. We have started getting some mail, I suspect it is because we are rural and not that many folks out this way so the carrier started delivery.

And something is messed up in some GPS systems. Had a gal pull down the driveway asking if I was Mr. So and So, she was here for the annual something, maybe insurance? Didn't listen well. I said no, not me, and told her that address is about four miles away. Then the other morning, there were two pizzas in one of the rocking chairs on the porch, the little receipt showed it was intended for the same street the other person was looking for, but a different house number on that street.
