I was listening to CNBC on satellite radio to try to determine why I have lost a small fortune in the past month, sadly. There was a commercial for California Psychics. It really struck me that people would advertise for that on a financial channel. It seems like their target audience would be quite different. Obviously, though, they're not in the business of losing money so someone is using them. Anyone here believe in psychics or have experience with them?

I believe that a lot more people (including educated people) believe in psychics that most of us would think. I think a lot of people believe but would never admit it.

Do you believe in magic?

Sadly, I didn't start listening until AFTER the carnage had occurred. Had I listened before, I would no doubt have called California Psychics who would have given me a heads up about the kerfuffle and I would have been able to avoid my losses. A day late and a dollar short. Live and learn.

Yes. Psychic phenomenon is real. Jimmy Akin believes it is actually part of human nature. I want to call out I'm not talking about consulting with the dead or sorcery (also both real).

Now, what you're dealing with- be careful. Demons abound.

Of course. But I will see them soon enough. And, as you might infer from my OP, I don't in general believe in psychics' stated abilities. Just my opinion. Although my true beliefs probably are consistent with Athanasius' post above.

I have yearned to speak with my grandmother for years and years, and many times have seriously considered consulting a medium. Some combination of fear of disappointment and Catholic guilt always holds me back. But I know if I was certain that I was hearing from her, I'd definitely want to do that more than once.

No, I don't believe. At all. And, I don't have time to look into it. Instead, I subscribe to Skeptical Inquirer. If those folks find proof, then I'll change my mind. https://skepticalinquirer.org/

Same thing with ghosts (but I think it's fun to entertain the possibility, especially around Halloween, and I do enjoy hearing ghost stories and I did just finish reading The Historian, which I enjoyed).

If that's true (and I don't think it is in this instance), I'm okay with it. It is worth it for the enormous peace it has brought me.

My son called one once when he was in high school. She asked what his name was and how could she help him. He replied "You're the psychic you tell me". Line went dead.

Mostly unrelated, but there are tons of women that truly believe in astrology when it comes to personality and relationship matches.
