Technology is good.

They're good for listening to music without earbuds in. Kinda useful for "hey meta" questions. Kinda useful for videos if you're doing something cool. Pictures are pretty pointless.

Young whippersnappers aren't going to be the ones wearing these, mostly millennials.

I have the ones with polarized lenses. They're great for driving and generally being outdoors. I think the next generation will have hud function so maybe wait for that.

I don't see the value, similar to google glass. Seems like a solution I search of a problem that doesn't exist.

Do they have a mapping and driving direction function yet? I'm holding out for that or xray vision.

We had night vision goggles when I was in the AF that had an artificial horizon built in. Be pretty cool to have a HUD for driving or even slaved to flight instruments when flying. I'd imagine these things will really advance quickly.

Probably what ever you can imagine they can do is being programmed now.

Black mirror episode! I agree this is coming and it seems scary. I'm curious what kind of ad-supported content/platform it will have.. Imagine trying to sleep and ads are popping up.

My brother-in-law, who is almost completely blind, has a pair. When he can't read something, they will read it to him. I think they can describe things around him, too. Pretty cool tech for him.

My boss has a pair. Swears by them

They've been a huge hit in the blind/low vision community. My six year old is blind and his doctor has raved about them. I don't think Ray Ban even set out to target that community but they have helped a lot of people.
