Seriously - maybe I've never had a good one, but I can't stand more than just a sip of the stuff.

Does good alcohol thrill you? Or are you a non-drinker? Or if you've moved on from alcohol, what did you move to?

Sparkling wine =\= champagne.
Real champagne is almost across the board delicious. I don't like the sec and demi-sec varietals because they're just a little sweet for me. But for me, a Pinot noir-heavy rose champagne with a nice tannic touch to it is pure money. A Pinot munieier heavy that is drier is also incredibly good.
One of the most interesting wines I ever had was a plain Pinot noir made with champagne Pinot noir grapes. Bought it from an American running a wine shop in Reims.
In sum: real champagne= good. Sparkling wine = usually crap. Exception: English sparkling wine that isn't technically champagne is often just as good as if not better than the real stuff. Try it.

Champagne is in fact sparkling wine...it's just from the Champagne region of France. The only products that can carry the label Champagne must be from grapes grown in that region. All others have to call themselves "Sparkling Wine"
