Talking with Aggie cousin the other day after the funeral of a mutual relative about Aggie ring options after death. (1) Interred with deceased in burial or cremains (2) Passed on to a designated survivor or heir (3) Donate to former students if possible (4) sell for gold value (5) Other? Of course it all depend on wishes of deceased if communicated before death.

I'd personally pass it on to a designated person if they really cared; otherwise with gold prices at an all time high I'd have it sold and the money given to the Former Students Association or a charity of my choice.

Sell mine when I'm dead. Would be pretty stupid to bury it with me.

One way to honor the wishes of the deceased is to keep the ring and write a check for the amount of the ring and leave it in the deceased's pocket. You can even add a few dollars to the amount for inflation.

This is my wife's Aggie bracelet. Chuck at 5th C jewelry in Bryan made this. Used her deceased moms gold to stretch and add to the back of her dads '61 ring.

Tons of compliments every time she wears it.

I need to see it on a wrist for scale. But, regardless, repurposing it is a great idea.

It has a clasp on the side with a safety chain on it.

If my wife buried me with anything of value I'd haunt her. Imagine a ring on a mummified skeleton. Nope

What if they cashed the check?

My sister used to work for the Space Shuttle program at NASA. Back in the day, she had my late grandfather's Class of '25 ring sent into orbit on a mission.

We should give it to the government as they are great stewards of our money

We supplied the extra gold, and the labor was about $2000 or so. It was probably 5 or 6 years ago, so I'm not sure. I thought it was high at the time, but I'm so happy we did that. We retired in Aggieland, and she wears it to every Aggie event we go to. That's 60 plus days a year.

I bet 5 people have had it done after seeing her bracelet. Our great friend was the first to have it done. Our friend helped designed it with Chuck. My wife's bracelet was the 20th one that Chuck at 5th C Jewelry completed.

I'm so glad we repurposed the ring that way. Beats the hell out of storing a ring in a drawer.

Yes, I was a salesman when I worked.
