We're not going to get into any new wars. We've been in the middle of a lot of wars, and the fact is this country's been too busy fighting wars.

Best Buy removed cds from shelves back in like 2018.
Blu-ray's/dvds followed.

My local best buy still has vinyl though, but I'm talking a few dozen.

Fake news, although MTV has been a reality show channel for many years now (kind of like how The Learning Channel shows morbidly obese people and The History Channel is about aliens and Arts and Entertainment shows live police videos, etc.)

They shut down the "Music Videos" MTV channel. The one with the reality show is staying. But what MTV was started and first know for, is no more.

I know a ton of tweens/teens who have CD players (and also record players). Parents want a way for their kids to listen to music without being online. I think a lot of artists release stuff on CD and vinyl now. For example, in the Fall Taylor Swift released like 16 different versions of her new album on CD and at least 4 on vinyl. We only bought one of each, but my daughter has friends who literally bought them all.

we have my wife's old record player and my old 5 disc changer set up in our basement (playing through a bluetooth marshall speaker), and we got a vinyl for each our kids this xmas (boys 10/11)

I don't know if it will stick, but at least they have the option to play physical media (i still have my ~400cds). They do seem intrigued, and spent some time flipping through the inserts.


If you 'think' a lot of artists are releasing on physical (especially vinyl), you are right.. vinyl sales have been increasing year over year since the low of 2006.. so nearly 20 years now. It's definitely not something that has surged in just the last few years, although 2021 was a huge jump (after 13 years of steady increases)

I don't mind streaming, and do it in the truck daily, but I still like to own media, and def. have interest now in vinyl since, being born in 1980, my primary physical media was at first cassette, and then cds, so I never really had vinyl in my life.

My wife ended up with a few she had from 80s, and honestly they sound like crap lol. Maybe need a cleaning?
