She is famous, but not like super famous rich. Why her? Just doesn't make sense to me. Savannah is famous enough that you know there will be national attention and all the heat that comes with it, but Savannah isn't rich enough to demand a big enough ransom to make it worth it. These goons are somewhat smart because they haven't gotten caught yet, but I don't think they thought it through all the way.

I hope I am wrong, but I fear it is going to end the same way Lucky Lindy's baby did. Dudes feel the heat is too hot so they leave her dead somewhere and run.

Seems like a pretty big lack of communication among the FBI and local cops, which I guess is still par for the course.

Most, if all local cops are inept, when it comes to anything that requires half a brain. It's proven all the time.

I didn't read or hear the backstory.. but are they just now releasing a ring video? How was this not discovered the day it happened?

Apparently, the original file was corrupt and it took some effort to get it from the servers.

She didn't have a subscription for recording. This was likely recovered from a buffer somewhere, which is not exactly straightforward.

I bet Ring is pissed right now. Nobody is going to pay for their subscription now that we know they can still get the data somewhere! I wonder how many old cases could have gone differently with this knowledge.

Could be as simple as she's the most famous person's relative they could find locally in Tucson.

If you notice the camera was never a Ring, it was a Nest. All the FBI releases are praising google for digging through the deleted event data and finding it. Credit/Disgust where due, it was google not amazon. I was really amazed they allowed the FBI to say who it was.

I like Savannah. Outside of her politics. I like her name as well.

I feel the same way. Something doesn't add up. Haven't been following the story religiously. It feels random on some level but also motivated by something other than money and I don't understand what that something would be.

And I hate to say it but the video of the family plea (led by Savannah) felt "off" too. Hate to judge reactions because no one knows how they'd react until they are in that position. The video seemed flat and without much emotion. Like they knew more than they are letting on. Not saying they are complicit, just that I got the impression there's more to the story than they are sharing.
