Well, they are Chinese after all. With around one and a half billion of them, a couple hundred falling into a sinkhole is nothing. Plus, if they can pull them back out before they rot, they can harvest a few organs from them.

True story - When my dad was in WW II stationed in India, if his B-24 crew wasn't bombing stuff in Siam and Burma they flew gasoline over "The Hump" into China. One of their stopover bases in China was situated on a high plateau that really wasn't long enough for over loaded B-24s to take off well (several crashed). Dad said there was a human conveyor belt of Chinese 24/7/365 dumping one basketful of dirt after another extending that runway. Modern Chinese kids probably don't know what a hard day's work is like. ;-)

There are a billion people in China. Give them 10 million rifles rifles and the rest of them shovels. They will figure out the rest. That is how they usually get things done over there.
