Does anyone know about flock cameras? I have been doing some research on them and they seem pretty similar to redlight cameras, except one company owns all the footage. they have AI integration that sorts all vehicles far beyond just license plates and I've actually seen some scary cases where the law enforcement using them to track bad guys have been caught tracking exes and mis identifying and falsely accusing people. The reason I bring this up here is i noticed that there are already these cameras here in town. The main place to see them is at the entrances of every Lowes and Home Depot in town. Just thought people here might be interested in looking into them. They kinda make me nervous and remind me of that big brother thing from 1984. If yall know about them, what are yalls thoughts on them? There are sites like https://deflock.org/ that help you see if these cameras are in your area and https://www.deflockbcs.com/ has some good information about these cameras. It reminds me of the redlight cameras but on steroids. I'm curious to see what the community thinks about this.

it pains me to learn that law enforcement is paying thousands of dollars for subscriptions (tax payer dollars) without advertising to the public that they are putting them up...

I don't see WalMarts on the map. Do they use another brand or something?

The purpose of FLOCK cameras is to read license plates and alert police when they detect a car that has been stolen or is wanted for some reason. Some FLOCK cameras are in fixed positions. Others are mounted in police cars. They constantly monitor so the officers can concentrate on other issues. Once it spots a license plate, it alerts the police.

Every City I know of who uses them has made it well known to the public. They look at it as a crime deterrent and consider it good publicity to let the citizens know that they are taking another step to keep them protected.
So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

I've had my vehicle stolen.
I've never stolen a vehicle.
I support using these cameras to find stolen vehicles.
