Would it be good or bad bull to buy an old Aggie Ring (AMC ring) from a jewelry store for a younger graduate who lost theirs? Price is lower than a new one. Idea would be to leave original owners name and add new owner. And it comes with a nice patina/wear.

Real question is about class year - leave or change?

Seems better for someone to wear it than leave it languishing.

O fount of knowledge of all that is good or bad bull please enlighten me.

Severl years ago I thought that my ring had been stolen by a house cleaner. It simply disappeared from my dresser drawer. We moved two houses and I never replaced the ring. I priced a new one and even looked at a few pawn shops, not expecting to find it. I couldn't bring myself to replace the stolen ring. A few months ago I emptied out a storage shed after yet another move. Some of the containers had been cracked or damaged and it was time to throw some of the junk I had been saving away. I got halfway through and to a random tote when I opened it up. It was full of receipts and mail. I thought to myself, only my wife would pack a storage tote with old junk mail. I started throwing it in the trash, and there it was at the bottom. The maroon ring case that I thought had been stolen. I pulled it out and opened it up,,,,,,,, and I cried like a baby. After several years of thinking it had been stolen, it was in a random storage tote in a rented unit that I may have never opened up. You can never replace the ring,

Just my opinion.

Had no idea so many knockoffs were available on eBay, good to know. I think he's looking for the genuine article in this case. You can also get Polaris rings from A&M that are about the price of these knockoffs

Not at all. She only cleaned it twice since we normally do that ourselves. I didn't even notice it was missing until a week or so after she was there the last time. I did think about reporting the theft to the police, but I am glad that I didn't. Besides, I don't think that you can deport someone to New Braunfels.


At one time I wore my ring on my hand all the time, but as a restaurant manager for 10 years, it took a beating and had been discolored. One time when I thought I lost it in the dishwasher drain, I decided to send it back to the Association for a cleaning, and it was only worn on special occasions after that. When I left the restaurant business 10 years later, it was a habit.

I had the chance to go to the ring office last Friday for a sizing appointment. The current declared value for shipping a mens ring to Balfour for resizing is $3028.

Not an Aggie ring, but one of my wife's uncles lost his wedding ring at a park playing catch. It was assumed it came off when he took off his glove.

29 years later a kid found it. The kid's mom was able to track down my wife's uncle with only his and his wife's first names and their wedding date inscribed on the inside.

General off the wall... nothing to do with how much rings cost now question... Can you print an Aggie Ring with a 3D printer and then paint it gold or antique it and sell it? Could you make money doing this? Could you keep it on the DL? Sell them in the back alleys behind Northgate? How hard would the university come down on you? Strongly written letter or prison time?

No, I really did, she was devastated (as I would be if I lost mine). Small price to pay for seeing her happy. After all, she's put up with me for almost 51 years, it's the least I can do!
