What is your preference?

I almost never have anyone deliver. Reasons are I like driving to pick up myself, and restaurant prices are exorbitant these days so I don't like paying delivery charges plus a tip. I pay for fuel but at least I get a chance to get out and enjoy the world.

The downer for me is that menu prices on these American apps are at least $1 or more higher than calling in or ordering at the restaurant. So to me, DD or GH doesn't make sense unless they give out a coupon to make it worthwhile.

So curious how you used these apps. I worked in Canada for some time and the apps there were more useful to me, I'd order and have no to pay no extra charge, but the ease made me order more. Volume. Same situation in some other countries I have visited. It is only in the US that they nickel and dime people when this could be a good volume business.

Neither. I don't like my food riding around in the car of someone who is most likely from a culture that places no value on hygiene and cleanliness. Whatever I want is less than a 15 minute roundtrip so I just get it myself. Hotter and doesn't have samir's stink particles invading it.

What about using it just to order while you pick up yourself?
I would do that but the markup makes it not worth it as I can just pick up a phone and call them and save some money.

At our estate we have a chef that prepares our meals daily. I do need to talk to him because he is starting to introduce a more ethnic menu and sometimes it upsets my tummy.

Not sure what your situation is but I highly recommend a personal chef over delivery service.

Neither. None. Never.

For a million reasons.

It's a waste of your money.
It's in some weirdos car. Have you seen how dirty people's cars can be? Disgusting.
It's cold.
It's lazy.
It encourages "side hustles" and encourages people to say "side hustle" likes a real thing.
It's a waste of money.
It's lazy.
It's a waste of money.
It is wrong like half the time. And when it is, you're **** out of luck. Same goes for this instacart ***** You trust some person who doesn't give a damn about your food to pick the right items?

Look, if you can't get out off your ass to get your own food, you certainly don't need to be eating out.

Don't even get me started on this entire "industry" I hate it with a passion. I hate everyone involved from the restaurants who encourage it, the people who do it and the people who order it. There is something wrong with you all.

Anyway...no offense or anything.

I rarely use any of the food delivery services, maybe once or twice a year. But what always amazed me was seeing them pick up stuff from 7/11.

Such a waste of money, like how much did you ultimately end up paying for some gummi bears, Cheetos, and a Big Gulp. The. I remembered what it was like being really high.

Does he shop for groceries too? Or do you have other staff for that? I have one for produce, and one for the butcher.

Who is everyone ordering food from that places open containers of food on car seats, and drinks not in cups? Its not like like people can TOUCH your stuff.
Does anyone complain about employees touching and handling Hundreds of people's groceries at HEB as they bag your groceries? What do yall think, bangers wash their hands in between customers?

Part of the reason I dislike Door Dash is ALL the darn packaging and sealing of the items...so the order doesnt get verified till you open it. Which its usually too late and you are stuck with missing items/the wrong order.

Sunday night I went to my local HEB. It is a fairly affluent HEB. I saw one woman pushing her cart around, and in the upper section she had four large heads of broccoli out loose. These are the ones that normally sit on a bed of ice. There was no bag. They were just riding loose on top of her other groceries. That just seemed kind of gross to me.

DoorDash. In my last job I had a company-paid account that I used to order lunch every day. I'm also lazy and order at home once or twice per weekend.

I've never used either.

I was just talking to a coworker about this earlier in the week. It's weird the things we will spend money on, but things that we won't.

I will not pay for delivery service (it would have to be an odd circumstance for me to). I'll drop $16 on a margarita at Gringos without batting an eye. Color my hair myself to save $$$, but drop $175 for a haircut and conditioning treatment. Don't buy expensive clothes, but I do buy expensive shoes.

Gotta balance it all somehow

Spend your money however you want. I'd rather spend $10 to not have to deal with a 20 minute round trip to pick up lunch.

Good question and I like your set up. We do something slightly different.

Household items are shopped for by other house staff.

My grounds crew takes care of tools, fertilizer, irrigation, and whatever is needed for landscaping and maintenance.

I give a lot of autonomy to my chef, but do ask that he personally pick out meats, fruits & veggies, and delicacies. Last year, he had Gillardeau oysters flown in from France.

We did agree that his sous chef can help with dry goods or other staples with his instructions.

This is acceptable, but I trust you employ a loyal cupbearer to taste even the foods your chef prepares? You can never be too sure.

I broke my right foot 2 years ago.. had 2 surgeries to get it put back together. Was non weight bearing for 3 months. A few friends gifted me door dash gift cards. Super helpful at that time.
Also, I order groceries for my 88 year old Mother from Instacart periodically. I'm in CS and she's in San Antonio.
