Similar trajectory as Fuzzy's…what was once a fun local college joint turned into a massive chain with mediocre food.

First thing they got rid of was the hot red sauce in the glass bottles with the little aluminum cap. That stuff was good and hot af. New stuff tastes like the Schwanns truck.

-Owner starts restaurant
-Restaurant gets popular due to quality food at decent price
-Buyer comes in with offer impossible for owner to refuse
-New owner is able to find much cheaper sources for all ingredients, reduces staff to the minimum required to keep the restaurant functional, raises prices
-Man this place sucks now

Rinse and repeat with Chipotle, Panera, Potbelly, Blaze, and countless others.

Similar concept. Better ingredients and more options. Fried fish is excellent. Closed on Sundays.

no more wheat tortillas, the bar b que sauce aint the same.none of the ingredients are the same. Pretty sure, the staff used to shower with soap prior to starting their shift, not sure when that changed...?? but not good They popped up all over Houston, like the Double Dave's, and are all now disappearing. Yeppers , it aint the same.. I even went to the one on Northgate back in Feb, just to test my theory. ....very disappointed.

The quality at Potbelly is still good, except the price is now >$11 for an "original" size sandwich. It's also the only place in town I can buy hot giardiniera worth eating, but that's because the giardiniera is made in Chicago by folks who know what giardiniera should taste like.

If you like sandwiches I recently discovered Cheba Hut. They are my favorite right now and still seem small enough to hit that sweet spot of being a good business that still has a great product.

There's two locations in San Antonio, and it looks like there are others in the major cities.

Not sure where they started.

Had Cheba Hut in Colorado Springs at the recommendation of my friends who live out that way and can confirm it is delicioso.

I took my kid to the Cheba Hut in Little Rock and she still talks about it as the best place she's ever eaten.

I got into ABQ late one night and watched the CFB National Championship game at the Cheba Hut.

Life happens at the Cheba Hut.

Blackstone bought a majority stake of Jersey Mike's last year, so enjoy it while it lasts...
