Everyone should have one of these https://dbpowershop.com/collections/jump-starter

My wife has one. I have one.

Today my wife learned in the school drop off line that they don't work if you for some gd reason remove it from your vehicle.

Does she have one if it's not in the vehicle?

Would she know how to use it if it was in her vehicle?

I have a snow shovel, blanket, snow melt, and a flashlight in my car. No battery charger though. Depending on the size, I might have to add that to my trunk.

How many times will that zap my nipples before needing a recharge?

Actually yes. She even knew exactly where it was in the garage. I didn't ask why it was on a shelf in the garage & not in her vehicle, because I know I can't comprehend it.

Electric car jack kits are alo must haves for vehicles. Most come with an impact gun and tire inflator, so it makes it super easy for me (and wimpy men, I suppose) to change my tires.

I keep a collapsible shovel, large first aid kit, flashlight, emergency blankets, jumper cables, battery jumper, change of clothes, slim jim tool, and two doses of narcan in my truck cab.

I also have a basic tool kit in the bed.

I had no idea these existed. I'm ordering one. The amount of times I've had to show boys how to jump start a battery or change a tire is embarrassing. I use the heck out of the jump starter in both my car and the golf cart when it's died on me.

They are pretty awesome. We keep them in all of our vehicles (along with the jump starter). Have come in handy more than once.

They are great. Saved our ass late one night on a vacation road trip last summer. Got us to the vrbo and didn't miss my morning tee time messing with it.

It's also crazy how many jumps you can get on one charge. Just make sure to check it every once in awhile because they will slowly lose charge.

Mine says I have to charge it every 30 days. That's a big ask.

I've tried to use a portable jump starter on two occasions. Both failed.

1) I suspected my battery was on its way out before a long weekend trip from Dallas to College Station so I made damn sure my jump battery was fully charged. Parked all weekend while I camped/paddled and sure enough I couldn't start using my starter battery. Hook up the jump starter and no dice. My ESS auxiliary battery is dead too, as is their custom. Luckily I have giant jump cables and other rednecks as friends.

2) Non-ESS vehicle had thrown a couple vague warnings that the battery was near the end. The signs were vague enough I thought we'd make it through a trip that was almost entirely highway miles, so a lot of alternator time. Wrong. Stopped for gas and I was there until some family that happened to be coming along behind me brought me a new battery. In the meantime, I might have destroyed someone else's jump start pack trying to jump my engine off of it with effectively no battery in between.

Modern starter batteries suck. ESS systems are designed to make them fail. Best I can tell is you just have to replace your starter battery at the first sign of weakness, which is ever 12-18 months

Looks like these come in bottle and scissor configurations. Which do you have experience with? Could be super useful.

Really a personal preference. Bottle is obviously an internal thrusting device while the scissoring is external.

You seem smart. I'm sure you can set a recurring reminder on your phone.

We use the bottle type configuration. It has a compressor built into the body of the jack to use for inflating tires or for the impact gun. We have used them on an F150, F250, traverse, and a small car that my husband stopped to help. It was small enough profile to fit under it.

They last forever if you get a good one. You could probably zap your nipples until milk comes out of them I would guess.

With cars? Absolutely. That's why I have AAA!

I have a few napkins and straws, several pens that don't work, a tube of chapstick, some empty chip bags, handful of loose change, some $5 and $10 gift cards for random places, several receipts each totaling under $10 and one from king soopers probably in the $50 range, a half drank water bottle, a coloring book my 10 year old hasn't touched in 5 years, and an extra pair of sunglasses all in my truck cab.

I have nothing in my bed though, I should be more prepared!

Yea, so do I - I'm more than happy to watch someone else change my tire!
