The trick is, when you get a tip screen, hit Custom and put in a negative number. That gives you a discount. I don't know if it is even possible to type in negative numbers in the first place.

The next time I get this tip screen, I will hit Custom but I will put in the usual 17-18%. I don't believe in big tipping as I believe it is not my job to pay server costs. And since we are capitalistic and free market society, if the servers don't like it, they can very well get a new job that pays better, like the rest of us have to.

Please, if this works, don't cheat the restaurants.

Tips are optional. If it wasn't then add it to the bill as a charge.

So no, I am not screwing anyone of anything. If I ate at a restaurant and ran off without paying then yes, I would be. But I never do that.

I can even add 0 for tip if I wanted to and I would be okay. I have done it ONE time, when service was terrible and the woman dumped a bowl of rice in front of me so hard that the rice fell out. Bad service doesn't deserve a tip.

PS: This thread is a good way to smoke out the fake free marketists and capitalists who want to implement socialist ideas like tipping.

From your posts, I can tell you don't even tip but come here to boast about how big your tips are.

The cool part of the scheme in the OP is that instead of giving the tip, you can actually take the tip (or more if you want)

Actually, depending on how their software is written it would likely just take money away from the tip pool.

If it somehow does work (which I doubt), whoever is providing the point of sale terminals or software is probably going to have a bad day.

That is what the poster on twitter claims. Not sure as I have not tried it and I am not sure it even lets you put in negative numbers.

Yes, I agree that no one should rip off the restaurant. If the menu says $15 and you place the order, you damn well pay $15 plus taxes.

But tips are optional. If you hate that part of the job, find another job.

PS: Most people here who claim to be big tippers are actually lolpoors who can't even afford McD. They just pretend to be big tippers to impress their friends.
