I just started Breaking Bad Season 1 on Netflix. I must say...it is awesome. I've been looking for a great show to watch since I finished the Wire.

I just watched an episode on streaming last night. I'm watching Season One for a second time.

Very good show.

Wow. This made my day.

My local Blockbuster only had discs up to half way through season 2. Now I can finish it.

I just finished season 1. I started it at 4 this afternoon and took a little trip over to justin.tv in the middle to catch the game. Show is as fantastic as advertised.

And it only gets better.

Yup. Season 1 is great...season 2 is better...and season 3 is transcendent...possibly the best season of any drama ever.

I think this show is okay....and nothing more then okay.

I just finished season 2. Much better then season 1.

My problem with this show is that it just takes too long.

There are episodes where literally nothing real significant happens over the entire episode....then at the end something happens that is important.

Keep going.

Kellso... just curious, but what shows do you like?

Unfortunately, I was only able to get through about 5 episodes of season 2 yesterday. I plan to knock a few more out tonight and am glad I put Mad Men on hold for this. Breaking Bad is the primary reason I joined Netflix back in February...hoping that it would one day be available.

The only negative I have for the show is the sister. Her character irritates me and besides Hank, I don't really see her point.

My friend gave me Breaking Bad a few weeks ago and I think its kinda average.

Walt is a f"n ******bag and pretty much an imbecile.

I dont really care about any of these characters. There is little emotional connection with any of them.

The first season ends with zero resolution.

The Wire the episodes were long and took awhile, but the payoff was fantastic.....and the payoff came quick.

In Breaking Bad these episodes take forever.....and then almost nothing happens at the end.

This show doesnt get good until the middle and end of season 2.

By then Ive already suffered through 15-17 episodes of the first season and half of the 2nd.

My thoughts on the first season was that It was the Poor Mans Weeds.

2nd season is better....but I wouldn't call this a great show.

I havent watched 3rd season....but hopefully its better then the first two.

Kellso, I respect your opinion, but of every person I've ever talked to about this show who also watched Weeds, and of the countless numbers of people on message boards who've seen both shows, you are the only one who's ever thought Weeds was better than Breaking Bad. I've never seen Weeds, so I can't comment directly.

For me, what makes Breaking Bad so special isn't just the action or even the plot. It's all those things below the surface. The creative cinematography & camera angles, the pacing of the dialogue & the dialogue itself, the lighting, the music, the symbolism, the colors, the foreshadowing, the subtlety in the facial expressions, the voice inflection, etc... Every word and every action serves a purpose.

The show has so many more layers than anything else I've ever seen on TV.

Taint hit the nail on the head. The cinematography, the acting, the dialogue, all superb.

But most importantly, the show creates tension like no other. And the unpredictability is just off the charts. You never know what is going to happen in the next episode. I defy anyone to name a show that does this as well as Breaking Bad.

I said a poor mans weeds because I had zero clue where the first season was going.

I watched this show cold. No spoilers, no previews....I had no clue what this show was about.

The first season just drags on....and then it suddenly just ends.

There are way too many episodes that are just too long

It doesnt help that ive gotten my girlfriend to watch the Wire and we would literally watch these two shows on DVD right next to each other.

I realize comparing almost any show against the Wire is not really fair...

But the character and plot development in Wire Season 1 (My least favorite season of the Wire) is so much better then Breaking Bad its not even funny.

Season 2 of Breaking Bad is much better, much better plot line and conflicts, but as I mentioned above....you gotta suffer through about 10 episodes before this show gets good.

The only thing Weeds and Breaking Bad have remotely in common, is that the main character stoops to selling/creating drugs in order to better their situation.

I realize that sounds like a big plot device, and it is... but these shows are so different they don't deserve to be compared.

I keep trying to remember though, that the first 3 seasons of Weeds were really good. But my god, that show has tried its hardest to kill off any good memories I have of the Botwins.

It should be noted that the first season was cut short by the writers' strike, like most shows that year were.

Yeah if you "suffered" through season one, this might not be the show for you. Even though it gets better each season, I still think season one is fantastic. Ifyou didn't enjoy it at all, you probably won't love the show as much as we all do.

this, and what taint said. each season just gets better and better, although I would say season 3 was better than 4 has been so far. the end of one leading into the first three episodes of season two were one of the best strings of episodes ever.

and I'm really not trying to be an ass, but if you felt you "suffered" through episodes of Breaking Bad then it is not the show for you. it happens.

I will admit, I'm very biased. this is my all-time favorite show. I also watch(ed) lost, game of thrones, dexter, sons of anarchy, the wire, sopranos, mad men, entourage, the office, and just started the shield.

Alright guys.

Lemme just say that I just finished Season 3 of Breaking Bad and I can unequivocally say that it was some of the best Drama ive ever watched on TV.

Season 3 is fantastic.

Some great twists and turns and I would put Season 3 up against almost anything.

Doesnt change my opinion that I thought Season 1 sucked, and that Season 2 didnt get good until the middle.

But Ive totally changed my mind on this show.

I can understand all of your snide comments.

Kellso, nice to have you on board finally. Season 4 just keeps on getting better. And what a tour de force finale. Good lord.
