I thought season 3 was the best so far. Season 4 starts on 8/19. Really looking forward to it.

loved the first 3 seasons also although the timeframe of the tech is not always accurate but....still good. able to ignore that for the most part. they get the lingo down very well. love the period stuff otherwise. loved seeing Dallas circa the early 80s.

kinda didn't like the Silicon Valley relo but it made sense i suppose.

interested in where it goes. might need some new blood though (edit - well it's the last season so i guess just finish it as is....seems like in the previews). Very talented actors by they way.

Can't wait. I've enjoyed the from the beginning and I'm glad they are going to give it a proper ending.

Anyone been watching? Just finally plowed through season 3 after watching 1 & 2 as they originally aired. Season 3 vaulted this into probably one of my top 10 favorite series of all time.

Ive been struggling to enjoy season 4. Maybe life has got me too distracted but I just don't find myself looking forward to it like I did the first three seasons, especially season 1 which was my favorite. It hasn't been BAD, just boring

Yes.....this season has been very meh so far. Donna is now the uber b**ch....and Cam is just annoying. Disappointing to say the least.

I actually thought it started this week. Lol

Guess I'm gonna have to catch them online. Assuming still available ....on AMC right?

You and me both. Really boring. I'll keep watching just because I want to see how they wrap it up but not impressed so far.

Been a fan of the show for the first 3 seasons...behind so far on Season 4 but watched a couple episodes so far and this season has been my least favorite so far. I almost feel like they tried to stretch this thing out to 4 seasons when could have been done in 3. Maybe they could have done 2 or 3, 2 hour episodes this year (like the season premier) and just wrapped it up quicker. Overall has been a good/interesting series...now my only reason to watch is just to know how it ends...

just started this....watched S4 E1 and jesus......90 minutes and at least 45 minutes of it was different versions of Cameron and Joe on the phone to each other....blah blah blah.....

Seriously boring. Good lord.

I loved S1, S2 and most of S3....but I'm not sure I'll make another episode of this. Ugh.

This last episode was incredible.

Spoiler alert

It is very sad, but done extremely well. Wow!

That was dumb. And cheap. These final three hours better be worth it.

I know it's early, but that was by far the highest rated episode of the series.

I certainly enjoyed it quite a bit more than recent episodes.

I definitely saw quite a few glowing reactions over the past couple of days, so maybe that unfairly raised my expectations. About 45 minutes in, though, hardly anything had happened, and I was wondering what all the fuss was about. Then all the sudden they just randomly and unceremoneouly kill Gordon? With three hours left in the show? Granted, they obviously set up his illness in season two, but that whole plot line always felt so fabricated and unnecessary. And since then, they've hardly addressed it with any real weight. At the very least give the audience some kind of subtle indication or reminder in the immediate episodes leading up to something like that. I don't know, it just left a bad taste in my mouth and came across as needless and unearned. Just manufactured drama. If it leads to something great in the next three hours, I'll come around, but man, this whole season has felt aimless and inconsequential so far, and to go and do that on top of it just added to the frustration for me.

There were still clues there this season, but the writers obviously made a point to understate them. For instance, in an earlier episode, Gordon was trying to figure out the name of a hummed tune in the office. That was the song that Donna was singing to the girls in his final "flashback". Also, the episode where he ended up burning his symptom log, earlier in the episode, he was trying to hide some of his symptoms.

I thought it was well done with a real result from a real disease that can happen to people who are exposed to materials like Gordon was when he built computers. It was poetic that it happened in an episode where we see Gordon actually working with his hands (something he used to love, and hasn't done very often since building the Giant) one final time with a lot of satisfaction upon fixing the HVAC.

But agree that it was easy to overlook the details by how terrible this season has been up until this episode. I've been half paying attention through the last several episodes because it hasn't held my attention. IMDB voters apparently disagree with me there.

I saw the journal burning as less about hiding the symptoms and more him just letting go of the worrying about it to just enjoy life.

Folllowed by:

- Finding empathy for Donna when he picked her up from jail
- Being so eager to get Hailey back to Comet
- His relationship with Joe getting to such a good place, so much that he so easily changed the name of the project with no argument
- Prioritizing dinner with his girlfriend rather than get knee deep into their strategy session

Really liked the first 3 seasons but this season it's really just something to watch for me when I don't have anything else to watch. Maybe the series will redeem itself with these last 3 hours.

My memory may be failing me, but I was referring to a scene earlier in the episode where he went to the living room by himself and noticed some sort of symptom like a shaky hand, and kept it hidden from his house guests (maybe daughter and gf) that were back in the kitchen.

That's pretty much how I've always felt about the entire series. It's held my interest but never been a show that I got really excited about.

This latest episode was actually touching, though, and I dislike the characters a lot less than I have been lately.

That was a tough episode in more ways than one. Brutally honest.

Was worried about the boredom through the first half of the episode, realizing that it was all going to be devoted to mourning Gordon, but by the end it was pulled off beautifully.

Agreed. Joe's reactions and expressions were probably the most sad. I almost lost it there at the end when he was apologizing about the sweater.

I'm not going to say that the aimlessness of this fourth season was worth it for that last three minutes, but it was damn close. That final moment with Donna and Cameron was pure magic, and a fantastic "end" to their story. I could take or leave everything else, but Sepinwall, for one, seems to be pretty high on the finale, along with the series, overall...

It doesn't matter. That was the point. What's important is that Donna and Cameron found each other again. Maybe they change the world, maybe they don't. Either way, the ambiguity was on purpose.

That was a perfect series finale. Halt and Catch Fire will forever be one of my favorite television series. What a great ride the last four season have been.

I never heard of this show and only stumbled upon it because Netflix recommended it to me.

That was a lot of fun. May go down as one of my favorites, and I'm not much for the standard TV dramas.

The character dynamics and each one finding their own way after mis-stepping so many times I thought was perfectly done.

I watched the first 3 seasons as they aired. Just got around to season 4 recently. It's an amazing show. The characters are phenomenal. They always get so close to major success but never quite make it and have to deal with that fact. The personality clashes just work so well.
