I take it you're not aware that this is happening, a franchise reboot staring David Harbour of Stranger Things fame...

Hellboy 2 is consistently in my top 5 or top 10 movies of all time. There is just something about it, beyond the awesome visuals.

I would have loved to have seen 3 where they dealt with the results of 2 but too bad.

"Legendary AF"????? Seriously???

"Legendary as Hell" was staring them right in the face.

Lame AF
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Call me weird, but I liked the first one better than the second.

Rasputin and especially Kroenen were better villains and the film was a little less overly-goofy than the second. Plus, the beginning (where they find Hellboy) is just so awesome.

Completely agree. 2nd one was too campy almost and didn't like the Golden Army. They looked fat.

I'm gonna tend to agree with GiveEmHellBill. 2nd one was on another level. I thought it was very well done. I wouldn't put it in top 10 all time, but definitely stands out. Just feels like they put more effort into the story. It felt bigger. Better executed. Better villain

New Comic-Con New York banner. I'm assuming a trailer is due any day/hour now...

Am I the only one that thinks David Harbour in Hellboy makeup is virtually identical to Ron Perlman in Hellboy makeup?

I saw that the del Toro Hellboy 1 was on TV, so put it on the DVR so that I can catch the whole thing (I think I only watched that one once way back when). I rewatched it over the weekend and this movie really aged well. (Is it fair to talk about a 15 year old movie aging?).

It very much has a MCU feel to it, but with a few (very welcome) del Toro monster designs here and there. From the humor, to the charm of the lead(s), to the character development and plot centering around the sould of the main character, to the having an audience proxy, to it not exactly being an origin story (Hellboy had been fighting crime for decades by this film), to the occult-Nazi back story, this would fit perfectly as a phase 2 MCU film.

Gonna queue up a rewatch of Hellboy 2 before the reboot comes out.

Note: please use the other thread for discussing the upcoming reboot, and let's use this thread for discussing the del Toro duo.

Wish Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Pearlman could have finished a trilogy circa 2011/2012 or something though

:/

They wanted to, but Del Toro always does things on his terms and can take a long time to get projects made, for that reason. He doesn't just go with what studios want, which I respect a lot.

Too much time passed between Hellboy movies and Del Toro wanted to make other projects. And Perlman refuses to do Hellboy without Del Toro.

My only contribution to this thread (seen both Hellboy movies, was entertained, not much more) is that I find Selma Blair to be sexy AF.

I dig dark hair and eyes but not waifish figures. But I still find her amazingly hot.

Definitely not a great movie. Felt rushed. Hard to follow at times, mediocre soundtrack.

That said, I still kinda like it. It's got some fun action sequences. Decent style. Harbour was a good pick for the role. He's not why it failed. It gets put into my rotation sometimes as one of those flix I like to use as background noise when I'm working on something.

It's unfortunate that it bombed. We probably won't get another Hellboy movie anytime soon because of that.

I didn't realize there was a reboot with David Tenant (or forgot) but apparently a second reboot wrapped filming this spring.
